Welcome to the forum, though your avatar is hmmm..... a bit strange. Your wife choose a better hobby btw; keeping snakes might keep "unwanted nightly guests" out, car audio seems to attract them. Enjoy your hobby and put some snakes in the car at night. Nico Sorry I saw the avatar and tho...

Re: MPS-2500 (lots of large photos inside) FIXED PICS

Very mint amp with all original caps. Some repairs have been made ,but [by what I can see on the pics] no big ones. It needs new caps like mentioned before; if you're not up to it yourself, have it done. I'm under the impression some members here confuse the the numbers of the MPS2500 with the MS225...

Re: MS Capacitor Replacement

There's nothing wrong with asking questions, not even if they make the person asking sound ignorant. The only stupid question is the one not asked. There is however something I call basic communication, like "thanks, but I meant the railcaps, do they need replacement too?". Sounds a...

Re: MS Capacitor Replacement

You will find all the info you need for recapping your amps on this forum. If you know how to handle a soldering-iron and follow the instructions given then it's quite simple to do. All inputcaps from the 90's need to be replaced, and yes that means M-series too. I advice to change the silpads too; ...

JOERG; you searched for the blue caps a while back, did you find a source for them?
The ones I always used are black, you will loose the "original look" but gain reliability.

Re: MS Capacitor Replacement

The lifespan of a chemical product like a capacitor is limited. That is why I choose to also replace the railcaps [big ones] when recapping; taking a MS amp apart is not something you want to do more often than needed and if you love that amp, you want to service it thoroughly. Replacing the railcap...

Re: My bug is LOUD!!

Build a 44mm MDF wall just behind the seats and put as many woofers in there as you can, or like here four 18W6 JL's... and not to forget; YOU NEED A LOT OF AMPS AND BATTERIES if you really want to play loud. [more than you show so far]
[just a idea for a car like yours].

Re: two members of the" boomcarclub bollenstreek."

It's like trying to pressurize a balloon with a given amount of air; because of the material expanding you won't get any real pressure inside. When the same amount of air is forced into a rigid object, pressure [SPL] rizes because the walls don't give way. For high SPL scores you need a chamber [car...

Re: how to repair damaged tru-holes while replacing caps

Repairing the rca terminals was not so badly done, install the new ones like that and you'll be fine. About the cap replacement; I think the method that I described to repair this kind of damage will work. I advice to replace the small caps and re-solder the resistors as caps that have been under a ...

Even better noise rejection, but you could also choose to stay with the original value; that's up to you. When you look at every upgrade- post made for amps, wether in car or home equipment, you always see larger values beeing used. Manufacturers tend to use the smallest value possible, since that k...

Re: Need (specific) input regarding Cyclone for home use.

80 Hz. with a thirth or fourth order active crossover should do just fine. Go lower and you'll loose a lot of efficiency, go higher and you'll experience the noise I referred to in my previous post even worse. When you'll take the time to construct a solid cabinet for this you'll be able to hear low...

Re: Need (specific) input regarding Cyclone for home use.

FYI; Keep in mind these mechanical subs produce a small portion of noise when played at low levels. I experienced that while using them as a home-sub and it was the reason to sell them both. Comes from the torsion-bar that gets deformed both ways by the rotation of the core, forcing it to return it ...

Remove the screws, then select a drill bit (4mm or so) that fits perfectly into the transistor hole. Push the flat end of the drill bit all the way into the hole (PG p0rn:-)) and use it as a lever to gently bend the transistor off the heatsink. And prior to that, heat the sink with a hair-dryer to ...
