Re: Old school car audio - RIP

Yup I agree. My favorite subs are eclipse aluminum 8812, Orion hcca 12" (mk1), aura force 12", jl w6 (mk1) and Crystal cmp12. Those are all after the w6 and all work with 1 Cuft.

Old school car audio - RIP

You guys all have some great points. My take...I like to combine modern tech with an old school flare. I'm using a double din head unit that gives me an ability to play movies for my toddler or for myself while I'm parked. It also has just barely enough processing power to avoid getting a costly DSP...

Re: Any Suggestions

I am currently running Dynaudio. in the past ive run Boston pro and MB Quart Q series. I like the Dyn because of the smoothness of the silk done tweeter. plus the mids are really powerful. I loved the bostons and the MBs but my only complaint was with the harshness of the metal dome tweeters. Yes i ...

Re: Landmark personal memories in car audio

I don't recall the first system I heard but the first show system I heard what my buddies 96 impala with a pioneer head unit (he eventually, upgraded to a p1r when they came out) with a zx450 powering Polk audio components and a zx500 powering a trio or 12w6 in a custom bandpass box. Looking back, it...

Re: Octane LE serial number decipher

Sorry to bring this up from retirement, but i was trying to figure it out for the new registry. so I think (correct me if I am wrong) but the date code is the number of days since January 1, 1900. if thats the case then Joerg is incorrect. 36705 divided by 365 is 100.561 or 100 with remainder of 205...

Matt is redoing a FAS for me right now. He's still around and still doing PG stuff. Keep up with him, he's busy but worth the extra effort.

Old school car audio - RIP

I don't see voltage being an immediate impact. Even if all 2017 cars were 24v, how many of those cars would be getting systems anyway, let alone old school systems. Also, many of us have many more amps than we'll need. It's not just about installing them, for me at least, they are works of art, and ...

Re: Titanium 500.4 recap

Those should be 16v 2200uf unless, you are talking about the rail caps. If so, then check out Panasonic FC series 16v, 5600uf or Nichicon HE series 16v, 5600uf. Both of those will fit. If you asking about the rail caps then sorry, can't help you. I havnt changed enough of those on that amp to have a ...

No I am not on the inside, but I've spoken in person with the higher ups at PG and I've been reassured that they plan to release it.

Re: how do you ship?

I hope you are feeling better Scott. You can use a pool noodle to protect the terminals. I just take pieces of cardboard and bond them over the terminals and tape them in place for protection. Maybe stop in to Home Depot or Costco and see if they have any boxes that will fit the size you need. I'd u...

i cant speak about the sil pads, the page wont open for me and im not too informed on them. as for thermal paste, i really like the stuff i use. I believe it has better cooling properties and should last longer before it breaks down. is it worth the crazy price? whose to say. I pay $15 per syringe o...

Re: Phoenix gold registry...LE amp owners wanted

I was thinking about it. The MAC amps can be added into the 'other' section. I know that itchy has some and I'm waiting for his list of items.

As far as cyclone..I think it would be nice to have it. Did they have clearly marked serial numbers? Do you have one?

I get mine off digikey. Pn. BER178-ND is the larger size and pn. BER182-ND is the smaller. The color matches the originals.

Gotcha. Yea my thought exactly. I'm also thinking I want to replace the power light with a blue one. Just adds a modern touch to it.
