Re: CUSTOM M-AMP PROJECT (m25 & m50 (x2) Randy's)

They look incredible! Don't think the artwork is high either. As soon as they are on the heat sink the artwork will look properly placed.

I would also be interested in that 45 if you want to get rid of it. It is actually a very rare bird. It was an update that came out just before the HD's. It seems not many of these were produced.

Totally nice score by the way.

Correct, if you are using the pads you do not need the paste. The pads are good for electrical insulation and heat transfer. The paste is only good for heat transfer, NO electrical insulation.

So have you run one amp at a time to narrow it down even more? It probably isn't all three making this noise.

Looks like silpad to me. Trying to find one that exact size may be a pickle. Search silpad on Digikey and see if you can find one the same dimension. It would be totally functional to use individual ones for each device. That is how the older amps were done.

Re: Recapped my mps-2500

Silly question: would upgrading to higher rated (amps) fets and bjt's increase WRMS? I probably shouldn't even be thinking bout it. My knowledge on this is limited. I do know that upgrading the power supply fets, which the 054's are an upgrade, will not increase anything. They are controlled by oth...

Re: Recapped my mps-2500

I would use these... http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=IRFP054NPBF-ND I thought you were specifying those for the sf302 replacement? Yes/No? No, those are the mosfets for the power supply, quantity 8, to replace the IRFP 044's that you probably had in there. I use...

Point of information, the on the board fuses for the power supply are supposed to be 30 amps each not 60. For future reference of course.

Re: MPS-2500 + 2 Interfire 12" DVC = What?

I have been instructed by someone I trust, to always allow at least half the diameter of a speaker worth of distance in front of said speaker. So for your 12" subs you would want at least 6 inches in distance from their face to a solid surface. This is supposed to prevent pressure created by th...

Re: Recapped my mps-2500

It is odd that it takes more heat on one side of the caps than the other. I had the same issue, just fine tuned the heat a bit. I also checked all my connections for continuity after soldering to make sure no vias were removed or damaged without being noticed.

Re: Wha amp is this?

Per the end plates it is an MPS2500 but that is not definitive in itself. What is the serial number on the board? It will tell you what it is. The first numbers will be either 21 for an MS2125, 22 for an MS2250, or 25 for the afore mentioned MPS2500. They are all bad ass. It will require some much n...
