Re: Xmax 12's help please?
Sorry for the double thread, it was super late and I was kinda stoked as I was thinking it was a score as well. Waiting to hear back, the little pic I saw of them has them looking clean, but I asked for some more detailed pics. Hopefully I can work it out. If they are 4 ohm svc that would be awesome...

Xmax 12's help please?
Assuming they are in decent cosmetic shape and in working order, is $80 for 2 Xmax 12's a good price? Did they make different NI in this line, they guy thinks they are 8 ohm but isn't sure? Any info/advice appreciated. I'm not looking to blow my windows out, I was actually only thinking 1 8" or...

Re: score
The black squares in the bottom pic? Those are integrated circuit chips. You'll have to check them to see what they are exactly, typically the opamps in newer amplifiers are integrated chips vs older high end stuff using discrete components to accomplish the same thing.

Re: Ported vs Sealed, lets open this can of worms. lol
Just to beat the OTHER dead horse in this thread a little further, I'll paraphrase one of the philosophies of Oswald Spengler...You can't discount someone's ideas as ignorant just because they don't seem relevant now, you have to consider whether they were relevant at the time they were had and/or b...

Hey dudes, haven't had much time for the internetz lately but I'm still working on this, and still broke. Here is my current situation, if anyone has any insight I'm all ears. I just grabbed a Rockford 160.4 locally for $50 (the trans-ana punch series from like 1997 or so) and am about to pick up a ...

Re: hints on repairing zx350
A fairly in depth article about whether different capacitors result in audible differences. I love this guy. Awesome sight with a ton of information on amplifier design, crossover/filter and eq design, and scientific evidence disproving a lot of the snake-oil fuckery in the high end audio world. Hig...

You're gonna give me nightmares tonight. I can just imagine one of my drunk buddies pegging the channel gain on that mixer all "ooooh look at all the red lights now PARTY TIME....when did you get a fog machine? What's that burning smell?" lol Someone on here told me this actually, to check...

Re: EQ and You, Boost or Cut b/w ZOMG CLIPPING
Yeah I probably shouldn't have written it at 2 o clock in the morning. I kinda thought of myself at 16-17 y/o and figured I'd be more likely to not lose focus without the wording getting too technical. Sorry if I offended anyone, it was meant to be more tongue-in-cheek.

Re: EQ and You, Boost or Cut b/w ZOMG CLIPPING
This brings up a question that's nagged me for awhile. Most head units these days have a subwoofer level control. For example, mine goes from 0-12. At 0 the sub signal is completely cut off so I know it isn't a boost. Does this control how much of the available voltage for the sub out gets sent to ...

EQ and You, Boost or Cut b/w ZOMG CLIPPING
Fuck someone said the C word. Since we aren't in England I don't mean cunt either. :-# I understand the "basshead" mentality, I was 16 once too, but I figured since this is PG forum, most of you are spending big money on this stuff to get the most accurate sound reproduction possible, and ...

Re: Clarion EQS746/my super budget plan
Definitely not a great choice. That's some thin, weak material, which is poorly connected to the body, if even. You'll want to use a thick, structural kink in the actual body of the vehicle. Look around the bottom and sides of the back seat panel, and there should be a good spot. Consider somewhere...

Re: Low output on left ch.
My 350 has the same thing, leftover flux where the ribbon cable attaches. It was upgraded to V2 by PG before I bought it so I assumed that was done while it was being serviced.

Re: Clarion EQS746/my super budget plan
I want to mount the amp to the back of the back seat in the trunk. Since its a unibody car will that be a sufficient point to ground the amp? I can post a picture if it helps, its basically metal structure and the back seat (padding/upholstery) just bolts on over it. Essentially a firewall between t...

Re: Low output on left ch.
Have you checked dc output levels of each channel? I'm sure one of the experts working on these ZX boards will chime in, but could be as simple as needing bias adjustment.

I've got 2 polk 6.5" grills, 2 alpine 6.5" grills, 2 kicker 6-6.5" grills if anyone wants them just need cost to ship covered. The Polks and the Alpines are the traditional mesh type. The Kickers are the dumb plastic cage type.

Re: Clarion EQS746/my super budget plan
Thanks man. I found some enamel undercoat/sealer so there's 2 coats on everything now. The rears are in, they shouldn't see any direct water contact so I'm not sweating them. I may try to dig up something a little more robust for a couple top coats on the fronts before they go in, and I'm not counti...

Well for my first non bolt in install I guess its coming along OK. I'm not looking to win any awards lol. The 6x9s will mount to the bottom of the rear deck. The 6" driver baffle is going to mount where that plastic piece was so I routed down the mounting points to use the stock hardware. Gonna...

My stereo sounds like what you are going for... Stock HU, AudioControl Four.1 EQ (iPod input, which I never use). My speakers are mounted to the same factory plastic rings as well. http://photo.stipud.com/v/saab/stereo/ I would say screw those shitty Pyle amps... find another ZX450 in the Buy/Sell ...
Re: RIP MCA
OK first, who are you, as in how do you have access to such a thing, are you in the industry? Second, what exactly do you mean reel? What exactly is the film? Third, I would not trust it to any business to do a transfer even if you watch. They can easily retain the footage without you knowing.

its good to help prevent water from reaching the speaker. That was the one reason I am considering not abandoning them. There was definitely some evidence of water getting in there on the passenger side. Trying to conceive a way to use plastic or something to help with that without making it a huge...

Re: Clarion EQS746/my super budget plan
So the drivers in my front doors were mounted in these plastic fuckers to clear the window track/path. The replacements I have are 6" vs the 6.5" stock that these accept. Should I even bother with these assuming I have clearance between the front of the speaker and the door panel? Or shoul...
