Re: Crossover questions
If your head unit has crossover options why not just by-pass the crossover on the XS amps? You can also purchase those resistor networks for the amps if you wish to change the crossover point. Using two crossovers (both head unit and amp) will cause a steeper slope especially if both are set at the ...

I guess you guys just jumped to the last page and didn't bother to read the very first post by Stupid. "Ok guys, lets see who has what! Post pics of your PG stash  Please note: DO NOT ASK PEOPLE TO BUY THEIR GEAR HERE. THIS IS NOT THE TIME OR PLACE FOR THAT! " A lot of nice gear here...

Re: Zpa0.5 repair issues/questions
Well I went with the more robust IRF3205's and the 33ohm gate resistors (fusible/flameproof) and powered mine up, I quickly notice the amp was pulling 10amp (fuse pop and my light bulb was bright) it also dropped my power supply voltage down to 3.5dcv. So I took it apart and went oven all my solder ...

Re: Zpa0.5 repair issues/questions
Zeropoint, I was told that the 33ohm would work with the IRFZ48's. Am currently working on one, the power supply section. I already have the IRFZ48 and some fuse 330ohm resistors....are you sure you had 330ohm and not 33ohm? Maybe a pic of the actual board with the 330ohm resistors will convince me ...

Check them before soldering them, one of them could of been a defective one (rare but possible). Time consuming but it will safe you lots of money.

Re: ZX600 Ti Repair
They are becoming more and more affordable, I enjoy my Hakko 936 and I picked it up for around 60.00 shipped about 4 years ago (still to this day works like a charm). Hakko and Weller would be brands I would trust (there are others manufacture but may be a bit more expensive).

Re: ZX600 Ti Repair
Other amps would be good, but as long as the boards your practicing are double sided you should be good. Make sure the caps you practice on are just as big as the ones you'll be replacing that way you know what iron tip and temperature to use. I usually have my station set at 350-375c, and I get sol...

Re: Zpa0.5 repair issues/questions
Man that sucks that you had to replace the fets twice and still no luck. I remember working on my ti500.4 and my dumb ass left it on without a heatsink or fan (yeah now I know, lol) and I blew out a channel's outputs, was lucky that was all the damage that was done. When describing which pin is whic...

Re: ZX600 Ti Repair
That ZX600.2ti deserves to live again, don't part it out lol. Whats wrong with the M100? That's not an amplifier I would want to use as a teaching tool, again because its a very nice amplifier and it also needs LIFE. You'll learn all the tricks when soldering, very different from copper water pipes....

Re: ZX600 Ti Repair
Recently purchased a Titanium 600.2 (which is the same exact amplifier as this one here), and I found out the power supply was shot. I replaced all power supply fets and their gate resistors and got it back on its feet. I'll post pics of this one on it's own thread.

Re: hello....and have a problem with a PG zx200v2
I wouldn't be surprised if those capacitors ate a trace and that's what causing the amplifier to not turn on. I wouldn't even try powering it up with the original caps, while it may work, your putting that amplifier at high risk. Those caps are leaking, don't believe me....yank them out.

Re: hello....and have a problem with a PG zx200v2
From what the OP is describing, it sounds to me like the power supply is blown. All old school PG's used fuse type resistors so when those go out, they don't show any signs of damage. This prevents serious damage (just as shown in Eric's pic), lucky for those amps there are people like Eric that can...

Re: Recondition m50 & fan mod
Hmm I know there is one resistor (large, 5watt) that gets pretty hot but that's normal. The ones your referring to are the pre-drivers (not sure what stage, since its a triple darlington design). How much amperage is it pulling during idle (no load or signal)? Please tell me you have already replace...

Oh shit, ghetto boys as in scarface? Never seen a man cry until I seen a man die. Hate to say it but we all know (at least those who have actually taken the time to listen to Tupac) that Tupac was probably the realest rapper of his day. He kept it real, rapped about the truth and how people suffer a...

Re: ZX475Ti - PCB pictures required
That was my thinking too. Stock they were 2200 I think, so possibly there is a 2200 105C cap. I'm happy that PG used 85C caps and they rarely go bad (from what I've read, although on my amp they went missing). If I was more savvy with electrical components, I'd look into it more, however I'm from a...

Re: ZX475Ti - PCB pictures required
Good luck finding a higher capacitance cap than the OEM and on top of that a 105c cap. I would just leave those alone, but then again you didn't have them in the first place so the ones you went with would of been my choice. As far as them not been flush, that's okay as long as you can fit the cross...

LOL hook a line driver on the Ipod. That would help...then like Eric stated.. you can have your gains all the way down (8v setting) and you'll get the bests signal noise ratio.

Re: Is this acceptable?
Its bypassing the wet cap, am sure that resistor goes to a small wet cap. Its either factory or a SQ mod, either way that would not cause any thing to appear shorted. NOW LOOKING at the picture you can see the traces are BAD. They are intermitting with each other....use some solder wick and pick up ...

Re: Zx and titanium amps
Correct only the "HF", you'll be in for a surprise when you see how bad they leak. So be expecting it. Was the fan noise with the RCA's connected or without them? I ask because it could of been your HU that was causing noise. Also its a good idea to clean the pots and switches with DeoxIt ...
