Re: Attempting repair on a burned SA3.0X

You should install LED lights....Better lighting and color too. I made the switch and very glad I did.

Re: GP MS2250 what is one worth?

Hell I trade you all my M-series amps for that one, lol. It's not that rare but they are hard to come by, the green toroids are highly sought after.

I have 3 M50's and 3 M25's if you want to trade.

Re: GP MS2250 what is one worth?

Just my opinion, which should not matter as I don't even have a 2250 w/shroud, but I say it's worth at least 800.00 with shroud. So asking 1k for it w/shroud shouldn't be too crazy. Heck you might get other to say it's even more than my appraisal.

Re: Attempting repair on a burned SA3.0X

I gave the amp to my nephew about 2 months ago, and the pics I have are over 3 years old back when cell phones only had 3MP cameras. I can say though that the amplifier has an exact mirror right down the center (lengthwise), so if a PNP driver/predriver is near the RCA end on the working CH then it ...

Don't forget to replace those leaky caps...the rails caps are also Panasonic caps that leak.

Re: I think I might be back for a while...

Welcome back, I joined after or right around when you disappear I believe. I made two batches of BC remotes and only left with a few (about 5) I don't plan on making any more, so perhaps you can help out those that may need one. I went back through the archives and saw some of your work, must say ve...

WAYYY tooo much IMHO....I sold one in that condition for 75.00 and it took a while to actually sale. But hey if you are happy with the nice minty product then by all means you got a heck of a deal.

Cool, there's a Mouser 15minutes away from my place so I can just drive up there and pick them up but nice to know they can ship next day, am sure that will be the case with me too as said they are pretty close by lol.

Re: MS2250 does this amp have a crossover?

Good luck and remember when powering up for the first time after recapping it use a 5amp fuse for protection just in case you something went wrong. It should not pop a 5amp ATC fuse upon start up and idle.

Re: MS2250 does this amp have a crossover?

Your lucky Eric, I tear at least two on any MS amp hence why I just recommend replacing all pads while at it. But if you get as lucky as Eric then you won't have to purchase any. I completely agree with Eric, the MS is the worse to service/repair, the disassembling and assembling part can be a real ...

Re: MS2250 does this amp have a crossover?

The rail caps are also 35mm...so replacing the B+ input filter caps with 30mm won't make much of a difference since the rails are still 35mm. Your plexi is most likely to rub on the rail caps anyways and that's where your PG logo is at, I wouldn't worry about the B+ filter caps rubbing on the plexi ...

Re: MS2250 does this amp have a crossover?

I use Hakko...but Welder is also a good industrial brand. I have a Hakko 936 (love it) and the newer model FX-888D model (hate that it takes long to adjust compared to the old fashion knob). Forgot to ask you, did you damage any of the silpad insulators? Those will have to be replaced with new ones,...

Re: MS2250 does this amp have a crossover?

I go with the Panasonic FC 16v 8200uf that are 35mm tall, but you can go with any of the ones you listed.

The Panasonic FC has the look of the original caps as those are DIRECT REPLACEMENTS from the manufacture.

Re: MS2250 does this amp have a crossover?

Those are stock caps and ARE or WILL leak....slipping a piece of paper doesn't always work as sometimes the leaked fluid may have already dried and corroded the copper underneath it/them. Trust me the only way to actually see this is to remove all 12 caps and just have them replaced. Don't ruin the ...

^^LOL yep...had D4 written all over it. This will give you a rough idea if the voice coil is not burnt and reading a dead short or open (both a good sign that the sub/driver is toast).

Dude has 7k subscribers, I can only imagine how many I would have if I would do some simple educational vids...

Re: Subwoofer resistance testing video

Don't take advice from someone who mentions "I think I know" or "I don't know what these other functions are for this multimeter"...lol. Also the reason it fluctuates is because of air, the doofus has the ceiling fan on which is enough air to cause a change in dc resistance on an...

Re: ZX450 Green light -> No output

Which daughter board? The Xover or the PWM daughter board (this one vertical). If it was one from the xover board then am afraid that will not help the situation, it could but I very highly doubt it as all it does is send the audio signal to the main amp board...you can power the amplifier without i...

Re: ZX450 Green light -> No output

If it is not powering up then you should check the power supply fets and the gate resistors for those fets. You can check the fets with a dmm set to ohm or diode mode, you should not have any low resistance between any of the three pins of the fets. If you have a low resistance then the fets are bad...
