Oregon coast trip!

The wife and I are headed to Oregon! Basic plans are to head to the Columbia gorge and play for a few days, spend a few days in the Portland area, then head down the coast camping for a few nights. We will be taking my Land Cruiser and sleeping on the roof top tent so we shouldn't need much room for...

Re: Yellowstone and Teton trip (pic heavy)

It was pretty amazing how many people we saw approach the wildlife. And it wasn't just the out of country folks, plenty of US license plates pulled off on the side of the road walking towards the buffalo and elk. Idiots all around!

Yellowstone and Teton trip (pic heavy)

Last week the wife and I took a week vacation to Yellowstone and Yosemite National Parks. The first five nights we spent camping in Yellowstone and sleeping in the back of Stoffel (my 1989 HJ61). I had my concerns about spending that many nights camping, but everything went AWESOME!! The rig was com...

Re: Stoffel is here!!!

This weekend the we took Stoffel out on an overnighter in northern Utah. We met up with some of the old FJ Cruiser club members that we used to trail run with and some new folks. The wife, myself, and our friend had a blast with the rest of the group! We took the old transcontinental rail road bed f...

Re: Stoffel is here!!!

A few updates. The boys at Cruiser Outfitters have had my rig for the past week doing a few upgrades. First installed was the OME lift. Heavy duty plus in the rear and medium duty in the front. I gained just over one inch in the front and 4 inches in the rear! :D They also did a front axle knuckle r...

Thanks! It's coming along nicely. I just ordered the front bumper and hope to get it in for the lift in the next few weeks. While it is in for the lift I will have the front axle rebuilt. After that it will be exhaust and cosmetic items!

Re: Stoffel is here!!!

So, I have been busy upgrading Stoffel. I had custom bumpers and sliders made and installed along with other various little items to keep me busy. The next big upgrade will be the lift and rebuilding the front axle with upgraded chroemoly axle shafts and Birfields. Here are a few pics of the rear bu...

I'm assuming the caps went bad and have been corroding for at least a decade.

Capital Reef Valentine's Day overnighter

For Valentine's day the wife and I decided to take a trip to Capital Reef and try out the new sleep platform. We have been to Capital Reef a bunch of times, but never ventured out to Cathedral Valley. We asked at the visitor center if they thought the campground on top would be full because it was a...

Re: Stoffel is here!!!

Awesome looking and quality work man!!! I have to give my old man credit for the wood work on the sleep platform. I had a few ideas so I asked him about it. After that we bought some plywood and he took over! It actually worked out pretty good for me. Lol I did however do the wiring for the 12 volt...

Re: Stoffel is here!!!

What are you planning to do it? Well, since you asked the intimidate plans are to build it up for camping and off-roading. First I installed a 24 volt to 12 volt converter and added a fuse block to pull all 12 volt power from. The amount of weird ass wiring inside this thing was impressive. There w...

Re: Anyone using the SX 6.5" coaxials?

i have not used the sx coax's but i have been using a set of these pioneer coax's and they sound great for the money. https://www.parts-express.com/pioneer-ts-d1602r-6-1-2-coaxial-speaker-pair-260w--267-271 or you can step up to these comps for a few bucks more, i have been running these for a few ...

Anyone using the SX 6.5" coaxials?

I'm looking for a drop in replacement for some older pioneer speakers in the doors on the HJ. They will be running off of deck power for now. If I do decide to build a system I will replace them with a comp set. So, is anyone using these off of deck power? How do they sound if so? I was hoping to ge...

I just installed a Pioneer AVH-X3700BHS in the HJ61 and installed the Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS out of the Rav4 into the wife's new BJ71 and we love both decks. They both have bluetooth, Sirius XM, and DVD and more options that we will use.

Re: Stoffel is here!!!

Not as minty as the wife's, but what can you really expect for a 25 year old vehicle?? It has a few issues, but they are cosmetic. It's a solid platform and a great engine. I'm super excited to build this up!!

Re: Wife's new rig!!

I have a fix for your problem I am not a fan of toggle switches or the radio being left on and having a dead battery so what you need is a Bosch 24 volt relay and wire 24v from your ignition to 86 on the relay ground 85 12v from the fuse box that you put in to 30 on the relay and 87 goes out to you...
