Re: running 4 batteries and a POWERGRID???

I ran (5) red top Optimas and (4) 1.2 farad caps on my stock 85 amp alternator... No problem! And it charged just fine. I don't get what the problem is... One just has to realize that once the stereo exceeds the amperage of the alternator, the system is now running strictly off the batteries, so the...

Re: Ti21300.1 paired with 13W7AE

OK, you guys mare killing me. It will only hit .6 ohms at one, and only one frequency. As the frequencies are played, how many times and how long do you think that one frequency will be hit... not many times and not for long. So, .6 ohms will be just fine. Just think, at the resonance frequency of t...

The PG amp will handle .75 ohms with no problem. Make sure the amp has proper power going to it! Keep the JL's !!!

Re: HO alt with offboard regulator wiring?

Yes that is correct. Put it on the alternator side or the main power side. Obviously if you are using an isolator, which ever side it is connected to, that will be the voltage shown on the meter. So, if one battery drops in voltage because of drain, and that is the side you picked for the meter wire...

Re:

So far looking great!
You probably already know this, but, from the picture, I did notice that you still need to run a few more cables between the battery terminals to join all the batteries together in parallel . One more pos to pos and one more neg to neg.

I need help for a port length

Hi, hopefully someone with a box program can help me out. I have one Focal Utopia 38Wx (15") sub and I would like to make a sound quality, ported box. I have my box already made. It has a total internal volume of 3.475 cu f. I have already cut a hole for (1), 4" port. This internal volume ...

Re: How to repair a rubber speaker surround?

In the past I have used black silicone and I cut some heat shrink in half that matches the curvature of the surround. I then glued it on the back side of the original torn surround. So you can't really see it from the top, unless you look at it from the back side of the speaker. It works well and it...

Any SQ head unit recommendations

I am looking for a SQ head unit. Any recommendations? I was looking at a Pioneer DEX-P99RS... If I was to go with a din size

Are there any double din sized units out there that has a nice screen that can play DVD's and all that stuff?

Re: Need help on broken ZPA .5 amp

Wow, after two weeks of non stop testing soldering and desoldering, I actually got this thing to work. From what I can gather, the fault was, either one or two transistors that are soldered, but, the pins were not quite sticking through the circuit board to make a good connection to the solder. I su...

Re: Need help on broken ZPA .5 amp

I just checked the pot, it is good. So, somewhere between the twin up right circuit boards and the output transistors is where the problem is. I wish I had a schematic as to how the sound travels through the amp. It would make my life a lot easier. Any other suggestions? I do appreciate everyone's t...

Re: Need help on broken ZPA .5 amp

Ok, one side works 100%. The other side is not. It powers up and I will get perfect sound from the working side, but, no sound comes out of the other side. When the speaker wire is connected to the 'non' working side, I can tell it makes a connection. When I turn the volume up full, I can just get a...

Need help on broken ZPA .5 amp

Awhile back I bought a ZPA.05 on Ebay... Used it in bridged mode but never set it up properly. I never had enough input signal. I also had 2 others hooked up the same way. It was only after I put the right input into the amps, that I noticed the one sub only moving half what the other subs were doin...

Re: Lets talk about box building.

Go with the ported box. Bracing not needed. Just use 3/4inch, Ranger/MDF board. You will be impressed how it will pound with a ported box as compared with a seal box. I personally don't like sealed boxes. And it won't sound as bad as you might think.

Re: Lets talk about box building.

Concerning the flared ports, they are great when trying to prevent port noise. This is caused when the sub moves a lot of air in and out of the box. Your sub does not have that much excursion, so, you really will not need it. As for a box design, well, looking at the BL spec of the sub, it is really...

Re: Think I have a big problem

I blew up my M50 and put a hole the size of a nickle. I put masking tape on one side and used epoxy glue on the other side. Then I used a small drill bit to make holes for the parts and then ran small, solid wire for jumper wires. It has been working ever since. It does not look to bad either.

Re: Little help setting up my system

So, like I said, don't trust the clipping LEDs. I had a Frank, a Son of Frank, and 2, 2125's and the clipping LEDs were a little misleading. I did the oscilloscope on the output and found that my LEDs were really flickering, even though my signal was clean as a whistle and when I backed off the gain...

Re: Little help setting up my system

If your RK6's can handle the 2125, then try the MAC500. I did notice that you mentioned that the 2125 was at slight clipping. If you are looking at the red clipping lights on the side of the amp, those are sooo misleading. I went through this with my amps. Completely ignore them. You physically can ...

Re: Little help setting up my system

When an amp says it is 2ohms stable, it actually means 2ohms stereo or 4 ohms mono stable. It is actually the power of both channels at 2 ohms stereo, just added together. So, for example, I have an amp that is rated 100 watts by 2(stereo) at 4 ohms. It is bridgeable and it is 2 ohms stable. Usually...

Re: How hard is it to bridge a ZX450 2ohm x 2?

So I assume you have 2 subs, dual 4 ohm voice coils? As Eric said, 8 ohms mono or 1 ohm mono (not recommended). What you also can do is you can run it 2 ohms stereo. So, each sub is on each channel, stereo. Then your amp will see 2 ohms stereo. What you then need to do is get a y-adaptor rca cable, ...
