1986 fleetwood brougham install
figured I'd put up a thread on my caddy. For the past 3 years, I've been working on this car (couldn't tell by looking at it though LOL). http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae356/jetthreatkevin/cadillac/P8280875.jpg When I bought it had the factory symphony sound, and I quickly swapped it for a junk...

Re: sub box question
I just found the manual on hifonics website- kinda surprised they had a website. I didn't know they were still around. (had to dig through the manuals as they listed it as a speaker, not a sub) according to them, it needs a .88ft^3 box. It also lists a bunch of electrical parameters and mechanical p...

sub box question
I had a 3 x 10" woofer box I was planning to use in my car (picked it up for cheap with subs in it), but the box itself is too big (takes up the entire middle of the trunk....looks like it was made for an SUV or maybe a hatchback.) So now I'm planning on making 2 single boxes and putting them i...

Re: hello....and have a problem with a PG zx200v2
Most of the old school Phoenix Gold, PPI, and other brands from that era had caps installed that go bad after a period of time and catch fire. Any amp you buy off ebay you have to assume needs new caps. Its a standard thing. My advice would be to pm Eric, work out a deal, and let him fix your issue...

Re: 1997 BMW 525tds Touring Oldschool Install
wow....thats an awesome install job! Am I was reading through, I was amazed at the door panels (would have covered them in vinyl personally, but they look great!), then I saw the setup in back. I'm speechless....thats alot of high quality equipment. Also, I wish we had BMW wagons here in the states....

Re: hello....and have a problem with a PG zx200v2
Kevin, the board looks mint.....don't try first fix it you're self (or you're friend), and make a mess of it.... My advice....ship it to Eric for a full repair and recapping service if you wanna enjoy it for the next 15 years..... Every other oldskool secondhand amp you buy will need service before...

Re: MEMORY LANE -- Where did you start?
heres my first install. This was 4? years ago...The kenwood radio in my van kept shutting down (which I now know was a speaker wire grounding out) and the factory speakers were 100% blown, so I improvised on the uuber cheap (and since I thought the electrical system was the problem, I didn't want to...

Re: hello....and have a problem with a PG zx200v2
First off, why are there two yellow LEDs on the amp? Make sure they are not installed backwards, and make sure the leads from one are not touching the leads from another. there is one yellow and one green. my friend who looked at the amp tried unsoldering the yellow LED to see if that would turn of...

Re: hello....and have a problem with a PG zx200v2
pulled the plates off and sure enough, my friend missed one of the thermal sensors (the one that still has grease on it). How do I test it to make sure it works or not? I have a multimeter, but have 0 idea how to use it. http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae356/jetthreatkevin/stereo%20stuff/IMAG2197...

Re: hello....and have a problem with a PG zx200v2
spoke with my friend, and he said that he doesnt want to work on it because he can't promise if it will work when he's done (he said he normally works on home gear and isn't used to the complicated protection circuitry found on that amp), so looks like I'm either gonna have to find someone else to f...

Re: hello....and have a problem with a PG zx200v2
Ricky, I'm not ready to sell it just yet. Eric, I'll have my friend check those. That's what he said he would have to do (go through the whole card), then start replacing parts until it worked. I'm pretty sure it only has one sensor though. If you're looking at the amp, it's in the top left corner u...

hello....and have a problem with a PG zx200v2
Hi everybody. My name is Kevin. I picked up a phoenix gold zx200 v.2 about 6 months ago and finally got around to testing it, only to find out it doesn't work. I got it for cheap so I can't really complain too much, but I would like it to work. I know PG fixes amps, but I cannot justify spending $13...
