I've read several articles that pooh-pooh MTM centers (at least mounted horizontally): http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=89614 My current Paradigm center channel is an "W(T/M)W", and I haven't noticed any interference issues with it: http://www.audioholics.com/education/loudspeaker...

Re: I was given a XMAX 10 for free today! :)

Definitely one of my favorite subs for rock/metal. I like them a lot more than the Xmax 12's. A bit quiet on their own, but two of them on 500w are excellent!

Re: Finally going to get serious(ish) about HT, questions

I wouldn't recommend Overnight Sensations for your rear speakers. First of all they are designed to be nearfield monitors, so they won't sound right in a big room. Second, you want to match the "timbre" or general sound profile of all of your speakers. Because of this, I would personally r...

How about bridging the comps on the zx450, and bridging the subs on the zx500? That will solve your headroom problem for sure...

Seas, Tymphany (Vifa, ScanSpeak, Peerless), Morel, Dynaudio, etc. are all great brands.

Know that most home audio tweeters are designed to be on-axis (pointed directly at you), as opposed to car tweeters, which are much better off-axis.

Re: Anyone here build their own computer?

- 32gb ram? Major overkill. 8-16 max is good. - 3 graphics cards? With today's games, you need one, unless you are going for a wacky Eyefinity setup or something. I like the GTX680 or 7970 as well :) - What do you need a firewire card for? Do you have any peripherals with this port? Video editing? -...

http://soundbuggy.com/Eric/Car%20Audio/leaking_capacitor_tutorial/index.html It's a good idea to increase the capacitance value, just make sure the height, width, voltage and temperature rating are the same: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?PName?Name=493-1543-ND http://search.di...

Re: What subs to go w/ old M50?

I agree with Mr. Wild... if you want those amps to continue working for another 20 years, you need to replace the capacitors NOW. The good news is the M series is VERY easy to do, if you have even basic soldering skills. If not, it should still be very cheap to have done by a professional. It's not ...

Re: Q&A for me

300w is totally overkill for the Elite speakers if you ask me. Most if the power is just bled by the flashing crossover lights at that point, and you will hit Xmax with anything other than high dynamic range music. 200w is probably the most i'd run to them, if you want them to last. And individually...
