Re: oppo 104 dvd player
It absolutely is one of the best performing Bluray players on the market. I also like the look of the chassis. When get around to buying a Bluray player, it will likely be an Oppo. I only wish they would make a "lite" version without all the network streaming junk.

M44 @ 1.33 ohms bridged? maybe with fan shroud?
Who thinks this would be ok? Keep in mind this system is for listening to music. I am not a boomer. I like it loud sometimes, but mostly hard rock and metal. I figure with the fan shroud, i might could get away with it. Maybe not.....worth asking. Load would be 3 Rockford audiophile 4 ohm 12s. :) i ...

One of my clients just bought the new one. I think the only major difference over the old one is it will do 4k resolution. No biggie at the moment.

Who has actually used an XVR in their system?
Just curious if any of the phorum members have actually used one of the XVR tri-mode crossovers in their personal system for a fairly lengthy amount of time. What was your experience? Would you do it again? Did you use L-pads to attenuate the sub or front channels to help it blend better? Did you us...

Re: MS1000 Plexi advice!
hmmm....you have me thinking now. I want to do something unique with my MPS2500. I am thinking maybe I will have a custom glass back made! Then I will have it screened.
Maybe someone should call Corning and see if they will do a run of Gorilla Glass panels for our old school amps.

Yeah they seem closer than other amps i have seen too. There is a plastic coating on them also. Maybe to protect from them somehow touching? Could be something they changed in later revs.

I did not buy any gear from John, but he helped me get my hands on a MPS-2500 that was local to him. He picked it up and packed it like a tank and shipped it to me. I would not hesitate to buy anything from him...knowing it will get here in one piece. Thanks! If you ever find anything around boise t...

MPS-2500 (lots of large photos inside) FIXED PICS
Big thanks to nutxo, this is my latest acquisition. This was one amp that I drooled over more than any other back in the day and have never had a chance to own until now. For anyone wanting to buy something from nutxo, do not fear. He said he would pack the $%@ out of it and he did. Pretty clever cu...
PG FRC-1?
I was browsing the old school PG lit in the FAQ section and I saw this processor in the factory tour article. I know I read that article when it was current. But I do not remember that processor for the life of me. I have never seen one for sale, never heard it mentioned here or in the old PG forum....

Threads like this are good entertainment. Watching people argue is awesome! I have been alive over 34 years and have not once....ever....seen nor heard about the charging cable between the battery and alternator shorting out. I really do not understand why the debate exists here. If you are really t...

Re: Mixing sub sizes
I cannot think of any reason why it would be a bad idea. If you tune it right, it should be fine. I think having a few 8s playing down to about 30hz and an 18" low passed at 40 for the looooow stuff would be badass! especially if you can get the 8s in front.

Re: Question about partially using passive xover
Let me throw another option out that may be a little out of the box, but follow me. You can run the 8s active on the ZX500, using a highpass from your HU and the lowpass on the amp to create the proper bandpass or by sending a bandpass from the HU. Then send another highpass to the front half of the...

Re: Your PERSONAL product review!
Thread resurrection! I thought about this for a while and I think I came to a conclusion. I was having a hard time choosing between MS2125 and MS275. So I figure the SOFAS would be a good compromise. ;) I kick myself sometimes for selling mine. Had the crate, the hay, the #'s matching crossover. It ...

Re: would like ideas color/look for my zx950
I always liked the "Sapphire" color PG used for the Sapphire amps. I know they did some custom MS/MPS amps in the same color and they looked awesome.
Sapphire...maybe with a hint of gold flake in it to make it pop, and gold leaf logos/lettering. Bam!!

Re: Question about partially using passive xover
IIRC, that MBQ crossover is bi-amp capable, yes? There should be some jumpers you can move to allow you to use one set of amp channels for the midbass, and one set for the mids and tweeters. You could go that route and just send a high pass from the HU into the 450, and use the front channels for th...

Re: difference between the eq215's
215x crossover is set using resistor networks or rnets. If you want a different crossover point, you swap out the rnet "chip" for a different value. 215ix has a variable crossover. Much more practical for changing crossover points.

Need ideas for "nostalgia" build
I have wanted to do this for a long time and I think I am finally going to pull the trigger. Build a system using the stuff I always drooled over back in the 90's when I was getting into car audio but could not afford. :) The head unit will be an Alpine CDA-7939. I may get a PRA-H400...but am thinki...

So far so good with the kenwood. Although the sticker on the bottom says "JVC Kenwood". Lol. I will be happy with it for now. More review to come.

Headunit needed today.....Kenwood or JVC?
I am trying to choose between the Kenwood KDC-X496 and the JVC KD-A735BT. Both have the features I want. Bluetooth, Android control, 3 preouts, 24bit DAC, etc. I am leaning towards the Kenwood because I have used them in the past and liked them. I have never owned a JVC headunit. Price is about the ...
