sirius radio sucks

Post by ttocs »

I have been a longtime fan of it, I got it almost as soon as it came out and sold it for a number of years with out any complaints from customers or myself. The last few years anytime I needed to activate, reactivate or do anything to my account it was a painfull time on the phone where I felt like I was pulling teeth. Last year when I activated a new reciever I had the hardest time telling them I wanted to pay for this year and did NOT want to sign up for an automatic payment as I never do those to avoid being overdrawn. We went 2 or 3 rounds where she tried to make it out like a good thing they were offering me but I kept telling her no. It finally came to a head where I told her that if she could not sign me up with OUT automatic payment that she would not be signing me up at all, they never needed it before hand.... She gave in and said that it was not going to happen.

Last week I got an email that a bank of america account I do not use anymore went negative. I have tried to close this account 2 times but because BOA is in the process of reposessing my house because of my disability BS and does not want to close out the accounts associated with me and the mortgage. When I looked it up I found that sirius had automatically billed me for $165 yearly service, which then made the account negative and charged me an additional $35 and of course they want to charge more in 3 days......... I never got any notice of this pending payment being taken out and couldn't be more pissed that I now get to talk to 2 different customer service groups to fix it.

Sirius was very nice in offering a free half year of service. But I reminded him that it was not free since I now have a $35 fee that is going to be compounded on an account that I have no access too since moving. I told him to cancel anything I have with sirius and refund the charge on the card and the $35. He said that he could refund the 165, but it would take 7-10 days and could not do anything about the $35. I got more pissed when I pointed out that they take the money out of my account the very next hour when I give them the number and the OK to take the money, but now I will have further fees compounded in the time that 7-10 days. He tried to smooth it over again and pulled his ace out of his hand and offered me a free internet radio trial. I almost started screaming as I really lost it as I explained that he is not "giving" me anything for free that they didn't use to give out for free(remember when the sirius internet radio was free?!) and that I could not already get from 100 other places for free and that I didn't want anything to do with his company ever again. I explained to him that now that I had done everything I could with him, that I now get to call BOA, press 1 for english and wait on hold and then get to tell this whole story to another customer care rep who I can only hope speaks english as well as this guy did. Then I get to see how BOA will continue to rape me because of the error his company caused me.

fuck that place I will just start buying cd's agian or borrowing and burning cd's from my buddies and now maybe start to check out mp3 players if I want bad sound quality. I also went out and disconnected both recievers before I powered them up again and will leave them disconnected for then next couple months to keep them from recieving the disconnect signal. From what I understand by doing this your reciever will never get disconnected so after a 2-3 months you can again power it up and it should be good-to-go. If this works I will be sure to let you know so that we can all enjoy sirius the way it should be, hassle FREE(key word).

Shitty... sorry to hear that.

I have never signed up for any of the internet radio stuff, but my parents use it since they travel the country regularly.

hope it all works out - that someone pays you back for the 35.00 they took without permission.

I have an alpine XM tua220 that has been working free for 5 years now I bought it B stock right from alpine and it never received the deacivate signal plus I have an skyfi and an xm2go both going on 2 years working for free same thing unplugged them from the antenna and let them sit for 6 months without using them.
I have never liked sirius had XM from day one and tried sirius when they started too. Now that they are merged XM isn't near as good as it used to be the playlists are not as deep and way more repetitive.

That really, really sucks! This world is full of incompetence but when you have to pay for someone else's mistake, then that's when it really pisses me off. Not to derail your original thread on how Sirius sucks but if you are interested in a mp3 player and are worried about the sound quality, check out this link: http://www.anandtech.com/gadgets/showdo ... i=3204&p=9

If you rip your CD's to a lossless format, I don't think you'll have much trouble with sound quality. Find a receiver that bypasses an ipod's dac and you'll be even better off.

the local radio here sucks so I will have to get a few cd's to hold me over till I can power them back up again.

Last year I started getting notices that my subscription is up and needed to renew. So I called up, CC in hand pushed one for english and waited. Finally after getting someone I told her I wanted to renew my subscription, she said that she couldn't do it yet as it had not expired yet. I told her that I was getting notices already and she said that she could not renew my subscription until after it had expired and been turned off............ So I waited another month and it was shut off and the next day I recieved a offer for half off if I renewed. It was then I realized that this company was bound to fail with its horrible customer service and mismanaged billing. They are still only hoping to turn a profit but it sounds like they need to reorganize and get things straight before it could work.

Really it cuts out? My XM never cuts out in Calgary,Edmonton or Regina it even works indoors perfectly with the antenna sitting in a room with no windows too. I know its because XM has ground repeaters to send the signal out but I thought because of the merger sirius would be using those repeaters as well. I know before the merger people used to complain about sirius dropouts I thought it was better now.

I had a medium size tree that somewhat shaded my driveway that would block it but almost any bridge or covered area would kill it, and this was in the US. I will not miss paying for its bullshit, and look forward to free service in a few months..........

Their loss as far as I am concerned, I was willing to pay for it but if I can get it for free I am just considering it a trade for all the shit they put me through.

Same companys different problem.

I had sirius account for several years. Back when you could pay $9.99 monthly. Was on an auto pay account thru BOA debit card.
When it was time to renew the card I updated every account with the new expire date on the card, all but the sirius account.

Well sirius was shut down.
Buddy of mine said to let it simmer awhile and they would keep sending better and better offers.
Meanwhile I installed a new cd changer and forgot about the sirius.
Couple months later I tried to restart the sirus account.
Went to the web site to reactivate my account, no dice.
It wouldn't take the card. Same numbers with a different expiraton date.

I got too angry with the customer service people and decided not to renew the account.
Alot of hassle over price and monthly payments

Just got a bigger 10 disc changer with extra cd holders. Problem solved.

When it was on I had no problems except with long tunnels.
The worst it would do was to act like a skipping cd.
