FINALLY you got your ass over here. Everyone has been asking "WHARE IS JBOND OXXX WTF?" since I opened the place. Anyways, glad to have you. Your experience will certainly be very helpful around here!

Doc isn't a member but he would be welcome to join if he wanted.

As for going solo, naww... this is a community job, I just make sure the website is up. FWIW, I'm trying to replicate the old community feeling we had back on the PG forum. Hopefully this "name brand" forum will attract newbies, while the rest of us regulars can talk whatever brands we like.

yeah i have a picture of a ms1000 it took at ces...
it was on display at there booth.

i wish i could have afforded that beast....

but back in 91 when i bought my ms2125 i took it to a rf dealer
where i bought my spp 154s. the head installer at that time was
like let me open it for ya. i personally never seen the inside and he
was like telling me how bad this amp is and all that.
so i let him open it up and there was about 6 of us in the shop all standing
around it in awe.

he used to work for a pg dealer when the amp camme out but quit.
he was telling me before about pg but i never really was interested in it
untill i heard a 275 running four 15s
man i miss that time in my life....young and dumb(well just dumb alittle)

Actually Jim, I would appreciate your creative criticism and help a lot, especially in the installs section.

Just keep in mind that not all of us are experts and we are trying to do what suits us, rather than something competition grade. My installs are certainly nothing to gloat about, but they do have to serve a utility purpose as well. I also don't have the skills to do custom fiberglass work, so I sometimes have to rely on more conventional means (i.e. a prefab box). In this sense I think I have done pretty well...

and more... http://photo.stipud.com/stereo/saab/

I suppose your talents would be wasted trying to comment on a simple sub-in-box setup like mine or the 4runner's, but any advice you can give is welcome, no matter what grade the install is.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate it ;)

If people can't take criticism, they probably shouldn't be posting pictures on the internet. The only thing I ask of everyone is that they take into mind the goals of the system design... not everyone wants to compete, or is a pro. Telling me I could build a fancy amp rack is great, but defeats the purpose of my install. Everyone has room to improve though, so I think criticism is a great idea.

What I want to stay away from is an uber elitist installs gallery, where only competition grade installs are shown. Everyone should be proud of their work, even if they are just learning. Hell, look where I started. If I was never criticized, I wouldn't have moved far from there... but I think my install is an enormous quantum leap forwards in terms of quality, workmanship and ingenuity.

Exactly.

You can criticize my install (4Runner) because it does deserve criticism. However, like Tom said, it's often just about finding the right system, the right attention to detail and the right attitude for each individual's install. Especially for us hobbyist and first-time installers.

I know my install isn't pro. I know it's pretty much as basic as it gets. I know I would be laughed the fuck out of a competition if I even pulled up within a Km of those guys. It's ok ;) That's not what my stereo or my install is for. Even taking that into account, there is still room for criticism and judging by how everyone bows down to you ;), you probably have a good knack for pointing out the important and relevant stuff.

So yeah, stay and criticize, it only makes the info here better and gives direction to us padawans.

ok let me explainmy first system in a 94 eclipse awd turbo...

I bought a few magazines, read everything and anything on audio, all magazines, went to a few shops listened to speakers and amps, subs, head units, took it all in... the added the factors of warranty and finances

ended up with 3 way quarts up front, coaxial inthe rears, ppi art series amps and JL woofers.

i also researched the installation, as to what i want to do with it, what would be optimal, and what wouldn't screw up the vehicle

I then commited to everything, did the install myself, and did a few Iasca events locally from shops, such as sound advice and rolling sounds (fl) did very good, but i was in the military and my obligatins were with them. also this was my new hobby since I got rid of my superbike.

I tookno short cuts, wasted no money or time everything was planned. to the complete layout, screw, fiberglass, vinyl... anyways piss poor planning leads to piss poor performance. remember that ! also the cheap way never does anything for you, so short cuts are only a waste of time and money.

my motto of "you buy cheap, youbuy twice" is a fact!

however there is this also... the most expensive speaker installed half assed will net you the results of a cheap speaker.

or a properly installed cheap component will yield bette results then a improperly installed kazillion dollar component...

or we can just go like this.... install it properly and don't be a hack!

If you do I guarantee you they'll be made in China. They sold their entire manufacturing plant they'll never make amps stateside again. Not enough people will pay for it so you won't see many people designing or building things that way. Thats just the way it is. Its all about efficiently producing something that is good enough. Cheap sells quality is subjective. Thats the world today!

well what can I say, they did it to themselves, if they would of just kept the exclusivity to a few core products, keep raising prices and make it more exclusive, then they would probably be the last remaining amp manufacturer in the staes that is high end... but don't getme started... I won't stop, and be bitter...
