Best DRIVING video game

Post by Rold Gold »

With all the driving games like NFS and Turismo, which is best and why?

I love the way the NFS Most Wanted plays. Every now and again I'll break out the NFS Hot Pursuit 2.

Let the shit talking begin................
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

Seriously, I love Gran Turismo to death. But, Forza 2 takes the driving physics of Turismo and meshes it nicely with the customization of NFS. And the list of cars is nothing short of impressive. I've got a Ferrari FXX in what I like to call "Ferrargyle." Of course it's Black with a green, white, and red pattern! I just downloaded the '08 Audi R8, Gallardo Superleggera, and Dodge Challenger Concept (upgraded to a 540 Hemi) cause I loves me some Mopar!

And Brian to be honest there aren't a ton of BMW's, but you can take your pick of M3 in E30, E36, or E46 flavors. Even in Alpine white. Hell, they even have an '02 M3-GTR in street attire in addition to the purpose built racers. 8)

The Burnout series is about my only deviation from the standard sim racer titles.

Stipud, do you have a cockpit racing chair? I was thinking about building one but I don't have a place to keep it. I saw one awhile back on CL for $150 that I should have grabbed up.

I like Madden but I think NFL Street is more fun. The same with car games. I love GT4 but the gameplay gets boring after awhile and I have to throw in something different.

Off topic but GOLDEN EYE for N64 is the best game ever IMO...

I didnt like most wanted. The cop chases are fucking chafing man.

I think of all of the tuner games NFSU2 is my favorite, though I prefered NFSU's ease of play as opposed to driving around aimlessly..

Loved Daytona USA and DUSA 2 : BOTE (though sadly they never released that on any console) also loved SCUD racer (same there too the assholes).

I think my all time favorite would have to be either Screamer ! (on the pc, ridge racer beater) or Rage Racer on ps1. Not because they are as good as any of the later games but because they were the ones to set the boundaries.
NFS on the 3do was fucking brilliant too...

Fave games of all time.. hmm now youre asking.

Platform 3d : Mario 64. Sunshine was fucking terrible and galaxy could well top 64, I dont own it yet though sadly.
Tight 2nd here is between DK64 and Conker's bad fur day.

"""" 2d : super mario world, Sonic 2

Racing : As above. Screamer and Rage. Cruisn USA also gets a mention because its fucking good fun.

Shoot em up : Radiant Silvergun (saturn) Ikaruga (DC) Viewpoint (neo)

Fighting : Street Fighter 2 : Turbo. Other honorable mentions to Capcom VS SNK, Samurai showdown series on Neo Geo and Streetfighter EX plus @. Also tje original Killer Instinct.

Side scrolling shooter : Metal Slug series on any console they have been ported to. NOTHING beats this games simplicity and stunning detail, and all out fun.

Flying : Pilot Wings 64

Water sport : Hydro Thunder (Midway)

3d em up : Half Life 2. Period, finale, end of. Duke Nukem 3d. Max payne gets a mention too, loved it's noire theme.

Puzzle : Chuzzle Deluxe by pop cap. fuck me this game is like crack ! Super Puzzle fighter 2 : Turbo. Tetris featuring disney.

RPG : Shadow run on snes.
If you're going through hell keep going

Winston Churchill

"this is the world's most powerfulest high's amp."

Some dumb cunt.

Nah, just the force feedback wheel. I don't really have a great table to stick it to either unfortunately, so I end up using my controller most of the time.

For some reason I can never get into racing games. I have a racing wheel (chair kinda), but even then I just can't get into them. I have 3 or 4 burned on the xbox but I never play them. The real funny thing is I love to drive (and fast) in real life. I'm the asshole that plays freeway games on the highway when people piss me off. Go figure!!

I know exakly what you mean. I love freeway games of tag. I can't tell you how many times I've been in the emergency lanes on I-5 to salem or eugene for DUCK games. That's why I can't play the NFS games before a drive south.

Being a motorcycle guy I like Tourist Trophy. I was also playing MX vs. ATV Unleashed last weekend, pretty cool to goof around on.

The Gran Turismo series is the best IMO. Can't wait for GT5 to come out for the PS3.

As for NFS, most wanted is by far there best effort at any type of racing game. It's the only one I haven't beaten. Carbon I had defeated in under a month, more like in about 15 hours of game play.

I'm barrowing NFS Pro Street for the PS3 from a friend and I'm not all that thrilled about it. I don't like that there's not a city to run free in.

NASCAR08 is ok, you'll def. want the steering wheel control. I can't steer worth shit w/the analog stick.

F1 kicks ass w/all the ways you can custom taylor the game to your skill level.
