Thanks MMMAAAAANN!

Will this added hard drive benifit the HP? More space, faster etc.

I may be starting a thread on recommendations for good RELIABLE computor. But I'll try one last time to give the old one some CPR. I'll let ya know if I get a pulse back.

It will show up as a new drive on your computer. It won't be any faster, but you will be able to store files on that external disk if you want to (more space, especially if you delete the programs and your windows install, etc). Also, you can drag that disk around with you and connect it to other computers as well, which would be a pretty useful accessory.

As for recommendations... I am pretty biased, because I only recommend Macs. To me, they are the only computers that just work, and make sense.

As stated will give you more space. As far as programs go, you wont really be able to run them off the old drive. You will however be able to access the data, assuming the programs you used to create/open/make the data, is available on the HP. Otherwise ya, thats it. If you dont have the programs on the new computer, that might be abit rough to access the data. Untill you install programs to do so. IE: documents(word, word perfect, Adobe PDF), taxes (tax cut), databases (quick books), money (quicken, ms money) etc etc.

So just install them (hopefully you have them...) if not there may be free alternatives....IE: open office in place of M$ office.
