OKAY-
Light, elements, thermocoupler, internal wiring and casters all completed.

all thats left to do now, is prepare the outlet on the wall (which I have started), finish the door and wiring on he outside. all wiring to do with inside the oven all completed.

taking much longer than originally anticipated, but it's coming, coming along slowly but surely.

Hmm.. not sure if you need a fan for the oven?

BTW, what temperature is it running?

No no fan needed due to it's slim-line tall upright design... heat rises and there's really no place to go but up in this oven...
thats what is a little disappointing, the fact that it is so shallow...

BUT the good thing is, is that it will support any piece of car audio at least and should be able to get like up to 20+" rims in it- maybe not all 4 at same time, but at least can be done, whereas otherwise with the 20" x20" oven I would not be able to - so I am cool with it... It will ultimately net me three different ovens to choose from so I am / will be versatile, and running as efficient as possible... So i am okay with it...

PLUS i have the 8'x 6' x 6' oven right behind it that will be next up to getting completed.

Coooking at 400 for powder coating; and 700 for ceramic coating(s)

Finally I sat down to read this whole thread, [very bussy lately] and I must say WOWOWOWOWOWW!!!!!
You did so much work, and it looks like you're heading the right way for sure with your ideas.
Also compliments for building your oven... now let;s hope brattleboro will not be covered in complete darkness when you switch it on... JK.
That thing will add to your electricity-bill for sure!
Bummer you're so far away.... over here there are some companies who powdercoat, only problem is our orders go through too many hands, and by the time we pick it up.....it's often not what we ordered!
So I think you can easily do better since you'll be running the show by yourself.
I wish you all the best with your own bussiness, and by the looks of it you're gonna make it!! :hurr:
GOOD LUCK MATT.

Thanks Nico- I really/truly appreciate it!
i am trying, trying real hard to make this work- little budget, no time, but what ever spare resources i have or come across I continue to put effort into it.

STARTING TO GET LOCAL WORK THOUGH

nothing as of yet, but at least getting quotes out.

looks like i have a rim job (hehe rim job), and caliper job for local hardware store mgr. downtown... quoted 450.00 for 4-17" rims, 2 calipers, and two brake drums- said he was quoted 550 from place 2 hours away, and would defo go with me, once he gets rims off car...

so it's starting, jst takes time, maybe a full year or two before I can say / sever ties with current employemt situation... but it's good for supplemental income here/there - call it a hobby on paper right now i guess.

PS thinking maybe i shold only hire gurls to work in the shop for the PC'ing- then i could say in our slogan "We give the best rim jobs"-

:-$ someone locally already has that logo- they fix wheels.

YEeeeAH MAaaaaN, YEAaaaaH MAaaaaaN- (like p-diddy would say)
WOW!!! HOLY-SHIT I SOMETIMES AMAZE myself...

The window is now framed and beautiful looking. The black mark/s you see on some of the pic's in the corner is just where i made a line with marker, IT IS NOT blank space where the cut was off or anything...
THESE ARE ALL VERY TIGHT and flush and beautifully put together.
BEAUTIFUL I TELL YOU- TOOK ALL AFTERNOON SUNDAY- and don't have all rivets in- but will be shortly- beautiful tight fit and flush- you would think a pro did it- i swear!

WILL BE MAKING GOAL THAT THIS GETS ALL COMPLETED BEFORE I RETURN TO BACK TO WORK AFTER HOLIDAY on TUESDAY NEXT WEEK.

Thats what i am shooting for

OVEN IS DONE GUYS -
WELL I MEAN BASICALLY- IT IS DONE

Securing/sealing in the glass, which will be here friday- (15 minute job), screwing in the panel box covers on the side/back of oven and razor-trimming of extra cement from gasket application.

Wiring for wall and oven, Door latches/hinges, Gasket, everything except for the glass placement is all set- ready to roll.
Tomorrow I go over the programming of the controller with the mfg/builder. AND just wait for the glass!!!!

estimated weight of 450/500 pounds.- but maybe only 350- wish i had a scale.- but the fucker is fricken heavy...

ALL SET !

OKAY GUYS

good news and bad news :x :x
oven was wired up correctly- fired up w/o a hitch- BUT the downside is that there are/is some kinks that need to be ironed out.

1) need to re-do the gasket on the door. long story short, there are some spots that arent keeping heat in.

2) when oven gets up around 400, the door expands like you have never seen-came out 1/4" - 3/8" of an onch casuing the latches to pop and wont stay closed :x :x

3) going to need another latch (or two), for the door for the top left corner

Think i have a resolution for all the above, just going to take a short bit and put m behond schedule a lil...

BUT the good news is that it works, and so far so good for the wiring (my main/primary concern)

I spoke to the guys at Portland Glass-
Minimum order amount is 49.99, and take upwards of 10 days...

The portland Or option is 18 for glass and 24 for shipping- but here in 6 days... so it seemed / sounded to be the most resonable-

It has to be tempered glass so not just a piece of cut glass. :(

Good luck with the business. I guess you will be able to re-coat scuffed PG amps then!

ps

I've been an illustrator for some major design consultants in London for 15 years now. I can do pretty much any style going, from technical to sketchy (whatever is appropriate to the context & brief). I've worked for about half the FT100 companies over the years.

But the most important first step is:

Decide what you really want to communicate with the name itself. Plus who are your target audience your talking to?

All the supporting graphics will then stem from that name, so it's all important. Don't start with a random or borrowed image and try and work it backwards. The brand can then be applied to everything, ie: sign, website, paperwork, so everything looks totally professional.

AND WE'RE OFF!!!!!
JUST ABOUT READY TO DO SOME BIG BAKING!
     :hurr: :hurr: :hurr:

The final finishing touches were done this past weekend - glass/window installed... and got oven up to 525*f
Only took 45 minutes with opening the door for a few moments at 350*! Booth pic's and some more shots of completed completed oven Once the side goes on the booth, and fans get dropped in-

We'll be shooting and baking like a champ! Had to make revisions/upgrades to the booth i had becasue there just was not any filtration for excess powder (overflow)- and was just being left on the floor in the tent i posted up... The tent idea was great for quick idea to keep over flow powder "contained"- but it really just needs to be gone- out of the shop or IOW caught in the filters...

pic's of booth i have been working on in background while finishing off oven below....
Just the left side and two fans left to be done to booth and we're rockin' and rollin'

GUYS that are waiting for work from me... I appreciate it so much for being paitient with me and all that- A huge part of what is taking time was the miss-ordering of the glass and having to re-order second piece... and just unforeseen issues/problems that needed to be resolved...

BUT another huge part of this is that like with the booth- I want the parts to look just as good as they possibly can, and with like the booth / tent I had the powder was all over the sides of tent, and floor- and casuing or potentially causing cross-contamination issues and then having to re-do the parts and ending up with same cross-contamination issues on second round- just ultimately wouldnt be good at all...

SO with all that said- I am working on getting the best possible finishes for work that has been asked of me at this point and for the future, so it will and can look just as good as it possibly can... M

OKAY only have one pic of booth to show off....BUT

AND AS AN UPDATE FOR THOSE WAITING FOR WORK TO BE DONE- ...

I AM READY TO ROCK AND ROLL....

I did a sample (first) shoot last night with new booth and did first baking of parts in the oven last night!!!! ALL CHECKED OUT PERFECT!

a slight issue with the paint on cabinet burning off....BUT i ramped oven up to 700* for about 90 minutes and burned off a great deal of the paint from the he bottom ... I NEEDED to burn off the paint so there wont be fuzzies on finish.... BUT did burn off friday, and cleaned it up on saturday and did first shoot/bake last night w/ some sample parts of my landlord- all worked out well thus far.

Spray booth fricken works like a charm- The two fans (one on med and other on low) pulls over-flow powder like fricken fantastic! WORKS GREAT!

SO all thats left now is getting the all parts cleaned up again, blasted and then coated.

FOR WENG ITCHY JOERG & DDD - ALL YOU GUYS ARE FIRST - I can / will only do franked stuff first- DDD is having/getting something different and requires color changes and funky stuff....BUT that will have it's own thread too to show that progress.

I think I can get all your FRANKED guys' stuff in at once- ideally anyways, so there isnt two "bakings"- but feel confident that an MS1K sink, 430 sink, and a 2250 sink- yeah they'll all fit -No Sweat! I have electrical conduit pipe that I simply cut 42" long and jam in the oven to make as many holding rods that are / would be need to accomodate all stuff at once!

GETTING REALLY EXCITED TO SEE ALL THIS FRANKED STUFF HERE SHORTLY

STAY TUNED GUYS- AND THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR YOUR PATIENCE in waiting for your gear!... Building the oven just took so much longer than I had expected. Think i started the oven build roughly in October - It's now december - took three months to build- yuck!
BUT ITS DONE AND BAKING WELL.
I will show pic;s of the parts I did for sample last night- Not audio related but it is TVMRS Racing related... my landlord has a car he races and wanted to get his covers done- so for sample shoot / maiden bake-out I did his valve covers... IN RETURN he will have my name somewhere on his car. I will also be ceramic coating his headers- but thats later on- i need to get the color he wants... So with him passing along our contact info for the shop, and showing off my work with his friends/racing buddies around the area and on the track at the TVRMS circuit- I will most likely get more work from word of mouth- getting kinda of pumped about this shit!

in case anyone is interested or wants to know more about TVMRS: here is the website: (http://s206330593.onlinehome.us/) I will ultimately be doing 8 rims, 2 headers, and valve covers for his car... he gets about 15K each year from various sponsors and my contribution is the Coating work! GREAT ADVERTISING! ( IYAM :)

SO BTW- The oven gets hot enough for ceramic coatings as well!

THANKS ONCE AGAIN FOR YOUR GUYS's PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING ABOUT THE DELAY GETTING THE STUFF COATED> yes I could have done the 430 in the smaller oven, but like i said weng there is/are- were issues with the sink that need to be resolved. I tried the filler method- and it is not going to work- I think i need to weld it- WHICH I HAVE- I have a torch and aluminum welding sticks... i will try this afternoon to weld in the holes and re-tap the two screw holes....

WELL BAD DAY AT SHOP YESTERDAY

I had all the gumption and intent to shoot the franked stuff yesterday - but and well kinda long story and dont want to get into it- as i am just so mad at myself for trying to cut a corner. BUT bottom line is when i went in to finish off the covers for my landlord - as i only had to shoot the top clear.. I was aware of the paint still/continuing to peel at bottom & lower middle of oven... I said that it looked pretty stationary and didnt seem to present itself as a threat to the finish- BUT well i guess I was wrong... I should have just took the shop vac to the peeling paint on there (the inside) and been done with it-- ( )- but i hadnt- i thought and felt that given that the first round went fine and all that- should be okay to let the clear go one more time and then i would vacuum it out when ready to do the franked stuff. WELL do i really need to say what happened? so I did them over again and was there until 230am - I was like so pissed and frustrated and PO'ed at myself- i just couldnt get over it - so Fu*&^%G pissed at myself for not taking that extra moment to shop vac the inside of the oven... F^%K but it is what it is, Wengs, and Itchy Stuff I managed to blast in the mean time of pre-baking and baking the covers once again so at least it wasnt a complete waste- just wanted to get all franked stuff done yesterday for you guys! NOW it'll be left to doing it after work through-out the week.

DAMN MAN! So so sorry guys and please dont feel that the overlooking of the vacuuming is any indication of my work- it certianly is not - just thought it would be okay for one more cure for the lanlord and then i would be able to tackle all the Franked stuff that needs to get done... BUT and LIS, ITCHYS and WENGS stuff got blasted so that is a couple hours of grunt work out of the way though so i did make a little progress.

It's getting done next - so we can feel good about that!

BUT Will say this that the spray booth works fantastic...think i mentioned that in post above- BUT just re-stating that as it is really FU%$#@G swell how the overflow goes right into the filters/fans and gets right the fuck out of the way of the part getting sprayed.

Oven is working like a champ too just the same- had it sit on 400* all day yesterday and it only has like a 6-7* swing in either direction... F^%$#@!G so cool i built that oven all by myself (of course with help of various forums and stuff), but only me with the construction build- there's time i find myself just standing there looking at it in awe- it works like a fricken champ!

Is that green stuff masking? If so, I highly suggest you go the full length of the sink with it. Having a break in the paint would not look so great.

well i hear ya eric, and under normal circumstances like the 430, and joergs DAS i would/did. BUT in this particular project the MS475, all the holes that were "welded up" are visible from the process i elected to take to weld them up with... so there would be these perfectly round 'freckles" in the sink and visible in between the devices... SO i further elected to try covering them up with powder coat- given i used "powder coatable" liquid aluminum welding compound (Lab Metal, by Alvin Technologies)-

1 is: if I, nor the buyer, of said amp does not like/care for it in a bad way, I simply throw it in the dimethanychloride for 10 minutes strip it off and do again with the process of masking off the entire row.

BUT we only get two shots, if the second way is also not found of, then chances are that is the way we would have to stick to, so it kinda made sense to start with this process of masking off just the device locations as the devices as we already know or feel that they can not be on any powder coating due to thermal issues.

Does that make sense >?< the areas around the devices will be the exact same "franked" look that the sink in whole and clamp down bars will have. so it might look okay in fact and give it a lil custom loook- bu, and again, if nothing about it looks good- strip it in 10 min, run it through sand blaster again and coat again the other way...
AND with all that said i masked it so the coating would go right up to the device part- the high temp masking for PC'ing works real well, and does a good job as far as having definitive lines of where coating lands or doesnt land. SO it might look okay- keeping fingers crossed...

NOW if itchy says no just leave the freckles exposed i'm cool with that, but to be mindful of that fact and that I am willing to do what i can to cover them up...

glad you asked though-
m

Those holes would not really bother me much, but that is me.

I suggest you try a new method. Buy aluminum screws. Drill and tap the old holes, run the screws in until very tight, then use a die grinder to cut them off and grind smooth. I have not tried this method, but will on my next MS amp project.
