Show 'em it how its done...

Post by 5.9Limited »

What up all. been a few days since I've been on...was out of town for a week or so...and we've had killer weather here (80's in APRIL!!) anyway. Been loving my new system, and my ears are adjusting wayyy more than I thought they would...

so its spring...so all the chumps with crap tuner cars, and crap systems are coming out of the woodwork...don't get me wrong, I got nothing against GOOD tuner cars...but the guys rolling in a 92 integra wiht bondo, cheap rims and a crap kazoo sounding muffler bug the hell out of me...

I had to work last saturday right on the waterfront of VT's biggest lake, its a beautiful area, lots to do ,lots of people. Long story short, I could hear cars rolling by all day with systems goin...all sounded like BB junk..by the time I left work I could hear a system in a near by parkinglot...turns out it was a guy who I had seen drive by like 10 times that day, in you guessed it...a early 90's acura, with a beat body kit, cheap muffler, and pair of cheap kickers from a place fomerly known as Circuit city. Now I totally felt like a stupid little high schooler but I could pass of the chance to let my Rsdc's blow 'em up.

Turns out he was running 2 12's...and talked a lot of smack when I rolled up with my 2 10s...he was running a kicker "1000 watt amp" and laughed at my ti 600.2... so we railed on his first... kinda loud , yes... but muffled, no dynamic to it, muddy muddy lows and very little "bang ya in the chest" feel to it...and whole lots of rattles and vibrations from ALL over the car...

mine was next...now while you all may know the outcome...He was shocked...and pissed  Not only were the Rsdc's wayyyy louder, but obviously criper, punchier, lower and way more dynamic... the best part was he said mine "seemed louder because his ears were used to his subs, not mine" His Girl was like "I don't know, I just think his s%^& is way better than yours" .. priceless man, priceless...

will I do this often??/ nah. don't want to make my gear a target... Im all about stealth, and no one know what I have.... but hell it was fun for sure. :)
Is this where Im supposed to write something catchy??

I too have the "show off" weakness...........
Many a time I just couldn't resist the opportunity to pop my truck open and showcase REAL sound.......... I called it "4-12 sindrome" and every time I was stopped at a light and some kid with a majestic amp and a pair of RF's/kickers rattling in the trunk pulled up next to me I'd relapse.......
Those tender little burgers with them little, itty-bitty grilled onions that just explode in ya mouth like flavor crystals every time you bite into one.. just makes me want to burn this muthafuka down.... Come on, Pookie, let's burn this muthafuka down!!!

Everyone loves props for the hard work you put into this. No matter how often you tell yourself 'it's just for me.'

Funny .. I used to joke about installing a toilet paper dispenser in the trunk .. hehe .. so when I popped it open for people to see, they'd have something to wipe with after they shit their pants! haha

...One day we went to get a snack, and parked in front was a car, showing a huge decall saying;"how low can you go?"...
So we went in,had a snack, and I asked the only guy there about the car outside.
He replied; "I bet you have never heard something like it".
So ofcourse I was interested, and asked for a demo.
We went outside, he opened up the trunk, and there was ......a pile of crap! the cheapest 12 inch woofer on the market in a small plain wooden box, with the cheapest amp and the thinnest wires I ever saw powering it.
He gave us a demo about what "real low "was. After that ,he asked if I had such a 12 inch woofer as well in my install, and I said "no, I've got 8 15 inch woofers".
Dude looked at me if I just landed in a spaceship from mars; the looks on his face was even more bewildered after seeing, hearing and feeling the system..... I BET TILL THIS DAY HE REMEMBERS.

Year; 1996....[13 years ago  ]
Amps; 4x MS2125, woofers ; 8X CerwinVega S15.
Won the European SPL contest, working my way up all day, through all classes, though beeing in the "amateur class" myself with only 1.000W rms [PG Watts :D ]
Final opponent.... CALIBER VAN; "pro class", 12.000 W rms, 24x 12 inch woofers.
Beat him with my score of 156,9 Db.
Things couldn't get any better for me from that moment on, but with the car beeing displayed at shows and in magazines there was no way that I could leave it outside overnight anymore.
Sold the whole install shortly after that, except for my MS 2125's, of which I still own one today.
So now you also know where my long-lasting love for the MS- series comes from.
