Back to school...... 12 years later!

Post by smgreen20 »

Well, here goes nothing. My wife has been getting me started in going back to school at a vocational College, IVY TECH.

I got a Pell grant for $1000.00/semester and after loosing my job the state will pay for $5000.00/yr which will cover the $3000.00/semester plus books. I just made getting everything paid for. :D

After taking more tests then I cared to do, I passed everything needed and need not to take any refresher courses.

There's a list of guidelines and courses that I can take that they'll pay for. Mechanical Engineering- which I'm not so sure if IVY TECH covers that course, and Electrical Engineering- which I know IVY TECH does.
2 yrs of schooling on it's way for free. :D :D

You also have to do something that fits your "personality" and ambitions in life. There's a lot of categories you must fall into to qualify.

So if it's either one of those courses, I'm gonna learns mes some knowhows on these here amps.

PLEASE........ Wish me luck. I don't want to go back to school, but I have to do better for my family and myself. I might of found a job too that is in line w/what I'd be going to school for.

Brian,
That's what all the tests were about from the unemployment office. "Finding" me.

Paul,
Well, I love electronics, DUH, and I tested good at it and I want to learn more about it so I hope it all goes well.

It's funny. I had to take 5 hours of tests just to go to a college that's going to give me more tests.

Yea, I don't know if any of us picked up on that.

Either way, here's to you doing well and not having a teacher who's too terribly boring.

LOL   I had a History teacher my freshman year named (of all things) Mr. Borden. He talked in monotone and was so boring to listen to even someone w/HADD would fall asleep. So here's to not having a Mr. Bordom.

I really loved college....I hated school as a youth and didn't excel but as an adult I found it to be fun and that I enjoyed learning. I am however single and life here is boring 80 percent of the year so school became social for me...

the ratio of 19 year old puss to single and shameless me added some inspiring figures on the daily...damn I can't wait to get back to school :D

you will laugh at how different school is as a non-traditional student......

That reminded me of my first day at community college after taking some time off. I was writting something down that I didn't want to forget and could not help but hear the girl infront of me talking about how a friend of hers just did a year at the community colleges sister-school in England. She said that she would love to do something like that, but she didn't speak French. My jaw dropped so far down that it knocked the pen out of my hand and onto the floor. It took 10 mins to convince that girl that while it sounded a little funny, they spoke English in England and that french was spoken predominatly in france(I didn't want to confuse her with French-Canadian). In the process I convinced myself that I was in community college hell.......
