Christmas 2009.............on a budget.

I was listening to the radio this morning and heard the first of many x-mas commercials........"ONLY 69 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!! What will you get them?" Made me start thinking about the things I'd like to give to my wife, kids, mom, dad, grandparents, in-laws and other extended family this year...... On a smaller budget.....

Mom/dad/grandparents/in-laws are all about the happiness of their children/grandchildren....... Picture books from the kids is a great "blanket gift" in my opinion. I'll probly have my daughter put together 20-30 pictures of all of us taken over the last year and make the required prints. Pick up afew plain albums from wal*mart and get crafty....... Probly into that maybe $30-$40. Couple that with a tin full of home-made christmas cookies.........and bingo.......

Wives are a different story........ They always say "I don't need anything special..." like we're stupid enough to believe it. And while it doesn't have to be expensive or extravagant, you better have put some thought into it. I like to keep the "Pamper Day" in my back pocket for just such an occasion. Nothing beats a mani/pedi/cut-n-style/message day.....without any kids. While all this can add up in a hurry, it's still cheaper than a diamond anything you looked at in the glass case and says "I thought about yer gift". And it can also benifit you too.... She gets a day for herself to relax and you get a night to enjoy her new found relaxated frisky self. :safe: It's almost like buying yerself a gift. Around $100-$125 can make this happen. I have a pretty tight-knit group of friends so a couple of my buddies and I are looking into a group-package for the girls.

Kids are expensive all year round so why would christmas be any different.....? In my case, about $40 worth of hotwheels, lego's and a new football will do the trick for Booger. But my little girl is another story........ The quantity of her list seems to shrink every year but the $$$ involved seems to rise. Over the past year, cold hard $$$ seems to be the gift of choice in her book. go figure............

Now for the good gift idea..........
Beings that I have a handfull of friends that I've had since kindergarden...... We all make it a point to get eachother a $20 gift. Lastyear was booze from me...........This year is a gift that renews joy monthly......PLAYBOY subscritions..... :thumleft: :santa: A year only costs $19.98 with one of those 5x7 card/flyer inside the magazine. And here's the bonus, they send you (the gifter) free dvd's with each subscrition. BONUS!!!!!!

So for about $350 (give or take) I think I can get things covered.......

What are ya'll planning/thinking...?

indeed. I would normally go over to meet my parents in November - it's not happening this year. So I'm harrassing the little one about what she wants (and at least some of it will probably be at amazon) and I will be very annoyed if the "huge present" trend of the last few years continues.

Having said that, I have no idea what I want for myself - well, I do, but it's out of range unless everyone clubs together. Not gonna happen...

Ah well..

I'd like a new set of rubber for my mustang but like stated above.................on a budget.

The one gift I really like though is the gift on being out from under credit card debt. I'll be getting $3K from my tribe this year and I owe just alittle over that on my cards (Target, Old Navy, Sears, MC) so knocking that down will be awesome. Something to be said for only having minimal debt these days.

Did most of my christmas shopping in amsterdam. But still have to get my little girl her big present...

I was able to get a great deal on some magazine subs for 2 friends. 2 years of ESPN mag for $1.99 each.

I always check www.hotdealsclub.com www.slicksdeals.net and www.1saleaday.com for great deals.

I think the little monster is going to have to help me with some woodwork which will turn out to be her speakers.

Won't be spectacularly cheap, but I think she'll appreciate them. Especially if I get her a decent MP3 player at the same time....
