airbag question

Post by ttocs »

does anyone know what speed you have to be going for the airbag to deploy, or at what point of impact is it big enough to set it off?

i seen when they first came out that all you had to do was kick the bumper hard.. I had a friend that was drive a american car (shtty) and a guy ride his bike ran into him when he was parked at a light and for some reason it went off. it was fucked

I would think there is a differnce based on the car and company using them

here some good reading

I heard ~10 yrs ago, around 7-10 mph would do it.

it really depends on the car and the sensors every car is pretty much different
3x ti600.2, 1x ti1000.2 (hidding in the closet),1x 6.5 ti elite comp (front), 1x 5.25 ti elite comp (back), 2x XO crossovers, 2x tantrumX dual 4 ohm, zero point full power+ ground wiring
6x pc-ccc zero point rca

This is for that traffic ticket I am fighting. I was making a left had turn a t-intersection, and car #2 was also turning left. when he hit me(practicing for court already) my car was only rolling as I had not taken my foot completely off the brake. it was a impact directl on on of the sensors as you could see it hanging off the bumper afterwards but no airbags as we were hardly moving. Now with my foot still on the brake, no airbags he did 8) $3200 in damage on my car and $4500 on his.

I found a bunch of things wrong with the ticket and the way it was filled out so I think I can beat it.....

Pretty sure that these things use multiple inputs to deploy. Speed, seatbelt use, how many impact sensors are activated, which impact sensors are activated, steering column collapse. And as mentioned above, each vehicle is different due to their design and construction.
