Phoenix Gold Phorum

anyone ever used this stuff? I am doing some wiring under my hood and have some connections that I can't cover with shrink and I hate using tape there as the heat will slowly make it loose its grip. I saw this the other day at wallmart and was suprised I had not seen it before. It looks to be solidified nylon/plastic that when it dries feels just like regular insulation. These pieces will be on top of the motor as well as on the stut tower above the head/headers so they will be exposed to heat and I would hate for it to make a bigger mess to clean up later.

especially if you use a zip tie to secure the end so it can't ever come up

not even sure how I would be able to use that. I am going to post pics in the next day er two after I finish installing it tonight. I made a coil cover that will also act as the grounding point for my 0 awg big 3 upgrade. I am using some red/blue leds to let me know when either the amp fuse or the main power fuse blows for easy identification. The connections that I soldered on the back of these pieces for the leds is so small that I only have some small patches of exposed wire that I a want to cover. I am probably going to try it out and then put a piece of tape on the back to help it stay together if it does get hot. There shouldn't be any way they would ground out and they are fused if they do but just never seen this before.

I use brush on electrical tape all the time works pretty good.

under heat as well? IT looks likes like it would, about to find out.......

I have used it on stuff under the hood and it holds up pretty well.

great just what I wanted to hear. Looks like some neat stuff and if it does work well I could see myself using more often. Two coats gave a nice uniform look to where you really couldn't tell where the regular black insulation start/ended and where the liquid was. I cleaned up the extra that would have been a mess by simply cutting a lind and then scraping ti a bit and it came off but certianly didn't fall off.

In my case like I said I needed the very back of the leds to be insulated so it would not short out on the coil, but teh way the leeds were bent it made it impossible for tape or heat shrink....

For insulating leds I usually use hot glue.

then you have never done it under the hood above the heads/headers... I know hotglue would melt on a long summer drive........

I have not even considered using hot glue since I moved to phoenix. I saw peoples garage door openers melt in dark cars. About that time I was introduced to CA glue and kicker, since then I have been gluing myself to countless things and even myself(not like that sickos!). That shit rocks as long as you do not end up sticking to it.

Anything you put close enough to headers will melt they run 1200 degrees.

I get this powered stuff with CA glue was 30 bux

also use insta-set activator..shit is dry in half a shake of a lambs tail

so you get to enjoy gluing yourself to what ever you are working on like with ca?
