Since the R/C virus cought me big time and my final decision not to install anymore stuff into my old BMW i started working on a custom made Monster Truck. I sold the E-Savage and took the cash to buy some parts for the project. This time i´m going for a scale of 1/5
I started from scratch with just a few custom machined parts from a guy that lives in Slovenia. His shop is called Alza Racing and opened by 4 of January this year. My order had #7 Never the less this guy does amazing jobs. You could even send him drawings and he will make parts for u if he´s able to do so.
Here is the Chassis i got not to long ago. It already has the bulletproof differentials and the transmission from a HPI Savage Flux HP in it.
Most anoying is waiting for parts to come in :
And here u see the parts coming together quite slowly:
The car is sitting up front of me know as i just mounted the last parts and i´m waiting for the auction end for a proper 1/5 body for it.
The 1/8 body that´s on it right now looks ackward and is way too small for the chassis.

dont know what your plans for a body are but the fg mt bodies are nice and thick. they are 475mm wheelbase. large scale gassers are my other hobby that take most of my cash.

I just won the auction for the body! Not a bad price for a 1:5 custom painted body from Zielke.

cool paint man! I have heard you can spend an arm/leg on the cars, and should have have known you would take it to the next level. I will get you the money I owe for the wire and goodies this weekend to help feed the need...
I am looking forward to another 2 inches of snow tonight to enjoy my slash 4x4 with paddles...

Can´t wait to enjoy my car as well. Unfortunally we don´t have any snow anymore.

is this just for fun then? With that much put into the body and the shell I would be afraid to drive it too hard. I have been amazed how tough the plastic is. I was driving mine one day and took a full speed run right past me, and forgot that there was a wooden fence behind me. The type of fence made of raw wood with two horozontal posts suspended between two verticle posts. IT hit it hard enough that it knocked one of the horozontal pieces off, 2 rows down but the car showed no damage other then a slightly dented battery.

That´s a fun car for me and the lexan of the body shown above is an amazing 3mm thick. I know it will start to show wear when driving it, but i don´t care. Afterall it´s just an expensive toy.
As for the story of your car almost going thru a fence. When my car is finished it will be in the 30pound range. That´s going thru the fence for sure then.

I received the ESC today and did a little test run on wet pavement after i had everything together. That thing goes off like a freakin rocket on wheels. I will take it to a parking lot this weekend and make some vids. I guess it will do 50 to 60mph. And that with a weight of 15 pounds.

I have only put the high speed gear in my slash 4x4 2 times and I am willing to bet it was close to 60 as long as you could get traction. The thing that people that do not drive these do not understand is the scale of the torque that the new brushless motors are capable of. To get it up to 60 takes a long runway as you can't goose the throttle at any point. Even with it up to speed half way if you just grab it, all 4 wheels will just start spinning and then it is really amazing how far it can go while spinning the whole way....
Now the modern brakes on the new esc's is super cool though as it is nice to have the control. If you ever enjoyed rc as a kid and have not looked at it for a while I recomend taking a look again. The modern electronics that they put int these is even more fun they when we were kids.

The brushless systems skyrocketed the last few years. I´m running a Castle Creation Mamba Monster 2200kV Combo on 6S Lipo in this car. Thats an amazing 4.6HP and the motor reaches up to 48840 turns per minute.

And can reach that max rpm in .2 secs...

do yourself the favor of getting some paddle tires. As much fun as these are on dry ground I think they are 2x as much fun on snow with paddles.

I took the Flux 5T out into fresh snow today. Already had my first accidents with the body on but nothing too bad.

looks like alot of body roll, which is why it flipped that one time in the biginning. My slash 4x4 did the same thing till I made my own roll bar for it out of a big paper clip(th C-shaped type). I am suprised how well it works and has held up nicely over the year I have owned it. its not nearly as hard as everything else you engineered for this....

After the first testruns i found out that my biggest problems are the shocks. I need way harder springs as the ones that are mounted now can´t handle the weight of the car very well. That´s why the body starts rolling to one side when doing turns on higher speed
