PSN Users....

Watch your credit cards....

Chase just called me a while ago, someone tried to make several charges on my credit card...when I looked online, a $298 charge at Restaurant.com was pending.

Had to get a new card.

I have a buddy that has a psn and he has been complaining about how slow the newtork has been running. My brothers good friend/roomie works for sony on the game design area and I asked my brother to talk to drew and see what happened.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/ ... -qriocity/
we believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained. While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility. If you have provided your credit card data through PlayStation Network or Qriocity, out of an abundance of caution we are advising you that your credit card number (excluding security code) and expiration date may have been obtained.

I love how they say "Sony is still unsure about whether your credit card data is safe."

Of course it's not....they had total access to dev/admin accounts....

Can you still change your PSN password if the network is off? I had my PSN account stolen a while ago and had to start a new one. The worst part about it is that you lose all your online game data.

No...it's all "undergoing maintenance"...
I did contact them to let them know about my credit card, and asked if my PSN account would also be compromised...
Have to wait and see...

Oh, and a lot of what is on PSN is available for purchase through Amazon...I never understood why...
Now I do.

This could have happened just as easily to Xbox, or any other online retailer for that matter. I wish I knew what password I used for PSN, so I could know which passwords I have to change...

I am not a big enough gamer to give a crap to be honest but I know ever since I got my xbox anyone that had a playstation had to take the time to point out the weaknesses of it as though I was stupid to get it. I really didn't even want one but with the time I am at home now my buddies had them so it was a chance to hang out with them, while not leaving. Hell every system has good/bad points and just like you said almost any system can be hacked with enough work if the right/wrong people get pissed off.

I have another friend whos little bro is a complete computer techie and video game geek and has been loosing his mind. His theory was something about that some hackers had figured out how to hack/clone games and that sony did an update to wipe it out and now these people decided to get even. Not sure if its that guy in the link above.

Xbox vs. PS3 vs. Wii

Windows vs. OS X vs. Linux

Android vs. iOS vs. Blackberry

KDE vs. GNOME

The nerds will debate anything. Ferociously. And when they treat people like shit for using technology X over their preferred technology Y, they can eat shit.

It's cool to have a preference but you're an ass when you disparage someone over such matters (speaking generally, not "you" Scott).

Tom, its nice to see Im not the only one in that boat. I have no clue what the password is on my PSN, as I had to change it to something really random last time someone got a hold of my account. I went and changed all my passwords anyway (email/bank/ect)
