Love that project

As an incidental I work for an industrial coatings company by day Mark,

We do plastic media stripping (takes paint from a coke can without substrate damage) as well as the usual garnet, chilled iron and steel shot blasting (SA 2,2.5 and so on). If you need owt cleaning up :)

We spray wet paint also, thicker than automotive coatings (airless) but I know you have experience and an even more experienced buddy in the painting field already

Nice work so far, I hope there's a little system planned for in there too

Jon

most definitely a small system planned!! haven't decided on kit list yet but it's looking like a Nak cd700 headunit and Zapco processing for starters!

not decided on amps yet, thought maybe Soundstream class A's ran balanced from Zapco stuff, dunno.. I'll worry about that when I have an MOT on the car!!

I've been lucky enough to see this in the flesh. It's looking great and is going to be something special when finished 8)

It's not moving forward as fast as I'd like right now, I'm missing some special bolts that are hard to find  I just polished the front panel with my £5 special polisher and have to say it looks nice  just polished the wing on my A4 and noticed I got some water marks in the top (damn English weather  ), I'm scared to polish too much as I don't want to screw it up..

Little milky patches?

Try wafting a heat gun over them. Doesn't always work, but worth a try :)

no, more like silicone marks but I know they are from water drips! might get some 1200 and lightly polish by hand, it had 3 coats of lacquer so should be OK.

Although I don't drive one, I am a huge air cooled VW fan. I have a 68 beetle, soon a 69 also. I recently finished wiring a 2.5 Subaru in a 64 beetle and that thing is so fast with a stock 2.5, it almost belongs in there. Having modern A/C and heat doesn't hurt either, hehehe...

This and the notch back (wagon looking one) are awesome, but I'd prefer the bus with all the windows and the V front (60's) I believe...

it doesn't have an install yet but I plan to fit one (think I have enough amps spare  ), not sure what kit to fit yet but it will be an analogue orientated for sure 8)

OK, here's where I'm up to with the audio install, PG Ti1 head-unit into a pair of Rockford amps, 225.2 bridged on a Diamond 10" sub and 160.4 bridged to 2 channel on a pair of KEF 8" uni-q's, simple as that at the moment! amps color coded with chrome link and end bells to run with the theme of the car.

Image
Image

I used a bit of braided hose to hide the RCA and power cables for head-unit. don't think I've ever had such a solid fitting head-unit in any car! I made the cradle out of 18mm MDF

amp rack for rear shelf

old school PG blocks!

rear trunk all finished off now, I used some spare carpet to finish the the rear of the sub box off and hand stitched the edging back on! that took ages as I don't have a sewing machine!

Image

amp trim surround trimmed in head-lining material to match interior. not very stealth but I plan to make a cover for it and it's always garaged anwyay so out of site..

very nice although I would have faced the sub back myself.

I didn't want it facing back as it would have not looked right for me and it works OK as is too which is a bonus.

also, because I only had 10" of depth to play with mounting it on an angle gave me a little more. it would have been very tight on the rear of the enclosure!
