Jetta BBQ

Well a guy I work with had his jetta 1.8T with no mods go up in flames. He said it started from the dash behind the gauge cluster.

car was 100 % bone stock! nothing affter market allways seviced at a dealer. the car had 80k on it. needless to say he hates VW now.

is VW going to warrenty any of that?

Whoaahhh... I always heard the wiring in the new VW's was bad, but this??? :shock:

Warranty or not, this is the kind of thing that should be considered "unacceptable", and would have a high chance of being covered, especially if he knows where to complain.

Get a rollback and cart it to the dealership, make sure to take lots of pics with the dealers name in the photos, I bet that will get someones attention. That really sucks, Ive got 85k on mine and its got more bolt-ons than I care to think about. Really sad...

Wow that sucks, I would venture a guess knowing those as well as I do that the cause was not the wiring behind the cluster as that is pretty bullet proof but likely some dealer installed security BS that was "removed" at the time of sale and was just bypassed. The only thing I can think of that would be a likely suspect for that would be a frozen relay.

the car was 100% factory bought new from a vw dealer think he ordered it
