Post by mr tibbs »

STIPUD EDIT: I am getting tired of all the political threads, so I will be merging them all into this one from now on. Be forewarned that we have many different opinions here, so you must be willing and able to deal with any fallout that may occur from your posts. Make sure you read the forum guidelines, because they will be strictly enforced here.

Say what you will, but this is fact, not fiction. Go ahead and keep your eyes closed and tell yourself everything is good, I'm sure it will all work out in the end for you.

I agree that I am not in a position to do anything about it, but I'm not just going to turn a blind eye to it either.

I refuse to turn a blind eye to the fact things are still going great in the USA, and our level of opportunity is at an all time high.

There simply is no other nation on Earth where I personally would have had the opportunities I have had, or have been able to experience the level of success which I have.

Maybe with a little luck (I doubt it will ever happen), we will someday eliminate minimum wage, and eliminate government sponsored health care totally. Then my success will more than double!

Opportunity for what??!! Let's see, the real estate market is shit, the dollar is worth shit, gas costs an arm and a leg, the US national debt is out of control, the president is fighting a personal battle with a country that did nothing to us where our people are dying everyday for no good reason (plus it's costing billions upon billions), yep, I see your point. How could things get better around here??!!

If I want to buy a new house, I can go out and buy one. There currently are plenty to choose from. If I want some land, I can get some, and it will not cost me a fortune like it would in any of the overcrowded nations out there. I currently have one and a half acres of land. This is not much by US standards, but when my relatives came to visit me from the Netherlands, they nearly shit themselves as to how big my lot was, and the size of my (small by US standards) house.

If I go to the gas station, I can actually buy gas. I don’t have to wait in long lines, or I am not limited to a ration of only 5 gallons for example. I can pump 25 gallons into my gas guzzling truck, and I don’t get arrested for it. And, as a bonus, gas is still cheaper than many European nations. Until it hits $5 a gallon, I really have no right to bitch.

I could care less about the national debt. What I care about is my own personal debt. And, my personal debt happens to be at an all time high, as I bought a house. But, remove the house from the equation and I have ZERO debt. I owe no one anything. My vehicles are paid for, as is all the shit in my house. I have no credit card bills either.

The president is conducting (he is not fighting anyone himself) a justified and legal war which was voted upon as such by the US Congress. And, that war happens to serve at least three excellent purposes. One, it secures a future source for the USA to purchase or steal oil. Second, it boosts our economy due to all the weapons development and production associated with losses in the field. And third, it hones the skills of the best military in the world by giving them real life experiences.

From my side of the fence, things are looking pretty good.

For what? If we ever fight another world power it will not be a military battle it will be a nuclear one.
Can one send others to war if hes not willing to go himself?

I doubt it. I don’t think even the most crazy nations are ready to go nuclear in a battle. Total annihilation is a pretty good deterrent for both sides.

Iraq and Iran are pretty similar, and we will really be able to use all of this experience when we attack Iran during the next administration (Democrat or Republican, it won’t matter).

That artificially increased the market and when they all said oh shit I can’t afford this place and put on the market at the same time as all the other morons POOF! Market value went to shit because why…come on repeat after me because MORON BUYERS FLOODED THE MARKET!

e.g. not bush’s fault

The dollar is worth shit,

Welcome to market flux get used to it.

Gas costs an arm and a leg,

Yep but remember we invade IRAQ for the oil

The US national debt is out of control,

Well how it this different than any other administration?

The president is fighting a personal battle with a country that did nothing to us

Yep didn’t do shit to us but hey it all ok when he torture’s and kills is own country men.

Where our people are dying everyday for no good reason

NO GOOD REASON ! Get bent dude, tell you what you go over to that shit hole and tell the first soldier you see hey man your buddies just died for no good reason. See how long you last.
(plus it's costing billions upon billions), yep, I see your point. How could things get better around here??!!

Things could get better by getting rid of the liberal agenda there by clearing the way for people that have a clue to get some work done.

Well, I can see where this is going so I'm just going to agree to disagree with you rather that continue beating my head against a brick wall. Let me leave this thread by saying I would hate to be on your side of the fence.

Let’s try a simple little quiz…

Do you have a job?

Do you have a home?

Do you have food?

Do you have a vehicle (assuming you want one)?

Do you have all of your legs and arms, and do they work?

Are you cancer free?

Do you have someone waiting at home who loves you?

If you answered “Yes” to all of these questions, then SHUT THE FUCK UP, as you have nothing to bitch about. If you simply must bitch, then use your energy solving the above problems for those who are not so fortunate.

Man, I cannot agree more. That region may have been the beginning of life, but it sure seems like a great place to start the beginning of the end of life.

What's with the hostility guys? Is "SHUT THE FUCK UP" really necessary?

Eric, he backed down and agreed to disagree. What's with the cheap shot? You are better than that.

I tried to do my best to make that quiz for anyone who is reading it. It was not intended to be directly for mr tibbs. It applies equally to me as it does to him, and even you.

So with that in mind, “SHUT THE FUCK UP” is perfectly appropriate in my book, and fulfills its purpose nicely.

I know far too many people dying of cancer, or who had died of cancer, who did not bitch one bit about it, and did everything they could for themselves. I just get fed up with people bitching about their situation when they really are very fortunate, and should let it go.

So because your founding fathers weren't dying from cancer, they really had no right to secede from Britain, did they? What kind of backwards logic is that?

Good job taking my point as far from context as possible.

Now, I guess I will throw some of the same convoluted logic back your way.

Our founding fathers left Britain because they were not happy with the situation there. So, anyone here who is not happy with the situation should probably leave then I suppose, based on your point.

Well, what do ya know, we are in full agreement for once.
