What I have been up to with my car and what I plan to do.

OK now keep an open mind. That or if you dont like it dont read it.
Im doing this purely to add to the forum, constructivve input. No negs please.
This is Pandy's Tiburon and should be viewed as such. If it's a little roung around the edges, loud and bright then I would have achieved an expression of who I am.
Just remember that people....
Anyway here are the finished hood vents, we're chopping them in next saturday before removing them and masking the holes until it goes into paint. It wont look nice but they have to be done n order.
They look fucking sweet, paint came out pretty damn perfect
As you may now know, this is my choice of FX. They are on way 2 day air with 5 quarts of clear (sprayable) Im going for (well as much as I can really) complete coverage. Because spot repairs (white car remember) are a slightly different white to the rest of the car. But that wont matter, so long as it is uniform. Youll remember my speaker cabinet? well that used to be gun metal grey but all you can see are the flakes.
Im going to knock up a swatch of that to get an 'actual' with the FX over white.
The car is to be color coded, in the holographic flake and black.
It will have black tail lights (pictured here) these are not road legal as I made them real dark, but theyll go on for OTEC meetings.
At the front end it will have black vents, black hood pins, black grille and black fogs (with strobes in) fogs are here on the right side of the pic
Here is a seriously rough mock up of where the vents will be located. We did this in the wind, but this is the kind of placement I am after, to follow the swoops of the hood.
The rims are going to be black with a gold OTEC logo on each one on the outer edge of the rim.
In the center I have removed the mitsubishi logos and bondoed them flat, then cut and epoxyed mesh over.
Then I Added My own logo, PRP or pandy race product. These only need clear now and I will do them with the vents when the snow fucks off.
Also TBD are black rear view mirrors and black door handles. The license plate frames will be black (simple AEM ones) and the step in in the back bumper where the plate goes will be painted black.
Under the hood, door jams and any inner white left will be done with rustoleum in black.

Oh one more thing.
I have clear corners now, the inner chrome will be painted black, and the same for the headlights

So by spraying your headlights and taillights black... I assume you're using some spray tint, not just black paint, right?

What did you make the PRP out of?

nah you dont tint them you take them apart and paint the chrome things inside, leaving the lenses clear.
Letters came from an art shop

Why would you paint over surfaces that are made to reflect light forwards?
I understand if you mean the part that's non-reflective, i.e. the stuff that wraps around the two "pods", but if you plan on painting inside the reflective dishes I will totally disown you

Loads of people have done it, and it really doesnt change much.
On the tib inside the headlights are cat's eyes that project the light out. The chrome shroud really doesnt do that much.

It looks like the two outermost lights are projectors, so painting around them would be fine. My concern would be with the inner lights... it looks like they just use a reflective dish.

*holding back until its done*
oh well:

These come out without that bumpy textures yours have.
From what I can see from the video, you need layers of clear coat and lots of wet sanding

Will look into that. The dude that's doing it used to have a tib but crashed it into a pole and now has a rare bimmer.
I was actually talking to a mate of mine recently and it would appear that 90% of what I am doing with my car would be euro, hence why the yanks dont like it.
Each to his own I suppose, I mean you wouldnt catch me dead in a fucking explorer or another clumsy pile of shit like that.

Yeah thats a cool vid. I did the exact same minus the hair dryer.
Problem is something happened to one of them and the paint cracked, so I need to rip the paint off and do them again.
I also dont like the tint spray that I used because its not only smoke but red tint too, which restricts alot of the light.
My pal uses this model paint stuff thats not only alot cheaper but is only smoke, so were gonna do them again
I hadnt got to the p1000 1500 buff and polish part yet just the tint and clear, but there is no rescuing the other one so I need to start those again
The fogs are far from perfect but theyre battered to shit anyway, they sit about 4 inches from the ground and have taken some serious abuse over the years. Im not going to waste time trying to get them perfect because theyre only there to fill holes anyway. Strobe idea was just something fun to play with

Paint matierials arrived today.
So I did what I planned and took the extra 1/2 ounce of micro flake and made a swatch.. Its pretty bad 'cos I had to sand a piece of plex, put white down then spray clear and throw the flake at it before tapping it off and clearing it some more. Its rough, but does give an idea of what the tib will look like.
I knew it was going to be subtle over white, totally different to using a black base. But I fucking love it.
It's *so* hard to get pics of it strutting it's stuff because my camera is shit.. I thought flash would activate it more but it totally whited it out

The flakes come in a white pearl kinda stuff that obviously aids in the effect.
Anyway, here is a couple of angles, I didnt have hours and hours to walk around it like a bellend so I got what I could.
Orangey -
And here the green and holo starts to show, but it's close to fuckin impossible to get a good photo of it

lmao yeah I see what you mean !
Looking around it for a few mins has got me in awe, this stuff is incredible.
It reminds me of the ice palace thinger in superman when he goes there to play with kryptonite.
Im pleased, very very pleased. I have always loved the color of the pearl white CTS and this is the same, only it glints and shifts colors.
Saweet !

What sucks is unless you have one fucking kick ass cam a pic will never do it justice.

Yah I know I mean this cam is double crap.. 1mp looks like something out of world war one
When the car is done (end of march) Ill borrow my pals 8mp one and get some proper pics. I also didnt think to spray it onto a curve and like a bellend put it on straiight flat plex so you can only see one effect at once.
I should have used a spraycan lid or something
Ah well, the tibby has loads of swoops and curves
Just to explain how tiny the flakes are, that plex is 2 inches by 4 inches.

I'm kinda interested in what that paint'll look like. Best of luck spraying it dood, just don't forget the 30 layers of clear coat to keep that som-bitch shiny.

I've got 6 paintable quarts. For my Taurus I used 3 lol. So I think I got enough considering the tib is tiny in comparrison

Looks original. I am partial to the tiny flakes that give the white a pearl look.

messed around with the sample some more, here you can finally seeing it switch to total green ness. I also realised time of day will depend on what my car looks like LOL. So cool.
Mind you, you can also see what a pig's ear I made of the sample now

You used Clear on that Taurus?? The picture didn't really show it, it looked like flat white.
