Hobbies.

Post by ydnap »

Never thought of this before.

Obviously we all love ICE and some of us the cars it goes in

But what else do you do for fun or relaxation?

Lately I have been playing NFS pro street. Its ok. not a patch on undergrounds 1&2 tho and the speed challenges are fuckin shit.

However, I also like to build models.

Here is my TA Burt Reynolds edition and monte carlo SS lo rider style.

Image

And my latest project... My favorite turbocharged car ever, the Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evolutione.

My room mate started it but the paint he used trashed the body. He stripped it all down and tried again but didnt succeed. So I just took out the exacto, carved the body smooth and put enough paint on it to double the thickness of the body.. I think its going to be ok lol, final color will be black or red.

Image

The paint managed to fill all of the little nicks and imperfections nicely :)

Integrale = most beautiful hot hatch ever created.

Seriously. Its a square boxy little affair but its so fucking sexy. Even the ugly little rims it had suited it so well... Kinda like the stratos, those pepperpots wouldnt have worked on ANY other car but Lancia pulled it off perfectly.

The bad part of the Delta of course was it's weight and the fact it was never supposed to see rain, thats why they are like rocking horse shit now.

But man, I have to say that a fully rally specced HF (the exact one from Sega Rally 1995) is up on the top 5 of my dream cars, above all the ferraris and such.

Easily pushed to ball busting BHP numbers too, pant shittingly fast and handling to die for :)

Hobbies are for those that don't have kids. The closest thing to a hobbie I've had over the last 9 years (daughter is 9) is my stereo system. But I have been playin NFS Most Wanted on my 65".

Does blow-job collecting count as a hobbie cuz I've been heavily into that since I was 14. I'm also a Canibus coinsure. :bong:

I love the Carlo!!!! 87-88 right....

I'd roll the wheels off it. I always wanted a black one with the red stripes and the euro frontend.

It is yeah. It came packaged as a street machine.. Its alot less gaudy than it was supposed to be

You seem to have the same taste as me, I would love one in satin black with the red on drag wheels.

Sadly they didnt seem to fare too well and theres very few unmolested ones around these days :(

Also decided on the paint scheme for the Lancia.

Cherry red body (same as the box cover) but I found some carbon metallic colored paint (kinda gun metal) that my pal used on his M3 rims.

So, the spoiler, front face, hood ducts, wipers, mirrors and dash top & steering wheel are all going to be carbon on the red body, with silver (oem) rims.

Yellow shocks ('cos koni are the best there is) and tinted windows (light tint..)

There's one not too far from my house for sale. It's fuckin clean and he only wants $4500. Needs some engine/trany work I'm sure but the body is straight and the interior isn't all trashed. Saw one last year at the Rod & Custom show that sat on 19x10 rears and 18x8 fronts FOOSE wheels with a super-charged LS1. T-tops and all leather interior. He was running 2 18" Kicker VR's off a ZR1000. The cool shit was that the ZR1000 and ZR260 w/ bridge was posted up in the back window like a surfboard. Dude had like $25K into it though. 600HP!!!!!

And in Forza Motorsport 2! I've got my '92 Integrale EVO pushing 482hp and 447 lb-ft dressed in an olive green. It does a 2.669 0-60. I've also got a '74 Stratos in metallic green and gold! It's hawt :!:

It may be obvious I'm so into this game right now. I also have to report that Turismo has finally been outdone by another sim racing game.

Ive got a orange/blue flip camaro concept with flat black rims pushing 590BHP.
A Skyline (the new concept one) pushing 700BHP in silver candy on black rims.
A scooby in candy gold with carbon hood, trunk doors, spoler and widebody pushing 645BHP
A Lotus Elise in stock finish with candy black rims pushing 400BHP (more than enough for the car that weighs in as much as a cheese steak on a hoagie).
A purple/blue flip RX8 pushing 400BHP as my drift car.
A red vin diesel immitation RX7 pushing 690BHP for drag.

all in need for speed pro street

Tom, please don't list all the cars in your GT garages, I don't think the forum can handle that much info.

Damnit Pandy, we have something in common. That almost makes me feel dirty…

In addition to models I am very big into R/C, mostly cars, but I have a boat as well.

Model rockets (between 50-75 kits)

Wargame miniature painting (I don’t game, just paint them)

Home brewing (winemaking on its way, I have all the equipment now)

PC building

And on a very limited basis, stamp collecting and coil collecting.

I would like to get into model railroading, but that is a toss up between building a model railroad, or a home theater in the same space, and I am 95% certain the home theater will win out.

You should try a Testors metal body kit. They come with velvet flocked seats, working suspensions, doors, etc. All you have to do is screw or snap them together, but to make it fun, take the metal body and get it bead blasted. Then primer and paint it just like you would a real car.

I did a camaro SS once,an old 60s one.

It was huge ! mind you so was the price (about $80 IIRC in 2000 !)

From now I am going to do them all 1:24 so they don't look silly when theyre all together hehe.

Just made a mistake with the delta.... oops.

Theres a page tucked on one side of the instructions where you fit the exhausts (first) and I missed it.. Now Im going to have to use some grey matter in order to get the exhausts in under the stabilisers lol.

Right now, I am hobbying Guitar Hero 3 on Xbox360 and Rock Band. I am stoked because just now, I FINALLY passed "Slayer - Raining Blood" on HARD.....only 2 more songs left on hard....and IM already a good 1/4 through expert....stuck at Tom Morello that fat bastard is good.....its only been about 5 weeks since i have starting GH3....great game...but rock band is more fun....Im the drummer...its a blast!!

This spring/summer, I will be working on my Jeep (lift, wheels, tires, armor, etc)....going crawling and trail-running in Moab, and around here. I might also get my VW ready to sell so I can buy a new one. :)

I also plan to buy a house this year...which will add another hobby...I will be wiring it for sound and stuff and getting all that stuff going as I have time and money. Home theater and audio are expensive hobbies. ;)
