Anyone have a contact within USPS???

So here's the deal....

Last month I bought a pair of ID CD2 Comp horns from Ebay off a guy in CA.

Before the auction ended, he agreed to send them to me international but was a little bit aprehensive about it as he said he had experienced problems before with international buyers.

Anyway, I was very thankful when he agreed to send and payed full shipping charges without balking at the shipping price he gave me.

Fast forward to now..... I still hav'nt recieved the item.

USPS on line tracking shows that the package made it to Australia and was processed in customs but shows no movement past there.

I've spoken to our local postal service, checked all the local post offices (to make sure that the parcel is not waiting for me) and have even tried to get help from Australian customs but with no luck.

I've asked the seller to follow it up for me, but all he said was 'I went to the post office and they told me it had cleared customs in Australia' (which I already knew). Now I get the feeling that he really cant be assed helping me since he did'nt really want to send international in the first place. I'm pi$$ed with this, since I've sent the dude over $300 and now he cant be stuffed even helping. I've e-mailed USPS myself as well, but no luck there either.

The item was sent Priority Mail international.

Does anyone have a contact in USPS who might be able to try and do some digging for me to try and find out where the hell my parcel is??

TIA

You need to find out if it really did make it to Australia. If it did, it's not in USPS's hands anymore and going down that route is going to be hard to get anything done.

I've found that Canadian customs takes 2 weeks from any shipment from the states, that's excluding any transit times. Perhaps "cleared customs" is incorrect and customs is still hanging on to it.

I don't have any suggestions for you besides perhaps getting ready to file an insurance claim with USPS... the seller did send with insurance, right?

If it's already made it to your country, and he didn't send you a box of rocks, I honestly think there's not much more you can ask of the seller.

Customs usually takes at least a week for me. USPS always loses tracking once it hits the Canadian border as well, since our postage service handles it beyond there (just like in your case).

Not sure what to suggest. How long have you waited so far?

Hmm thanks for your sugestions guys.

The item info from the USPS site is as follows....

Out of Foreign Customs, June 02, 2008, 12:08 pm, AUSTRALIA
Into Foreign Customs, June 02, 2008, 11:19 am, AUSTRALIA
Arrived Abroad, June 02, 2008, 11:19 am, AUSTRALIA
International Dispatch, May 28, 2008, 9:03 pm, SAN FRANCISCO
Electronic Shipping Info Received, May 23, 2008

I've had plenty of things sent from the US in the past and it has always taken 7-10 days from the date of sending till the day it arrives on my doorstep. Not so this time.

I agree that from the info shown then I also would have assumed that once it hit my country then the package would be my responsibility and that I would be able to try and chase it up, but Australia Post tells me that until I recieve the item and sign for it then it remains the legal property of the sender and I am unable to do anything about it. It's for this reason only that I contacted the seller.

I've tried every avenue I can think of to try and find it from my end but have hit a brick wall everytime.

Do I think the seller has ripped me off???........ NO.

BUT it would be nice if he shared my enthusiasim (sp) for trying to find the package.

Wow, didn't realize it was missing for most of a month!

I would definitely be looking to file an insurance claim...
