Amazing movie! Saw it on my Birthday (the 17th). Was GREAT!
Best Batman movie by far so far.
And Jack Nickleson eat your heart out....Heath outdid himself here! It is too bad he had moved on.

I could see johnny depp playing that part aswell now the heath has passed. My guess is he will win the oscar this year. Thats the best movie ive seen in a long time. Most of the crap in theaters today have just been terrible.

It almost looks like Depp in that pencil scene. Myself I saw the movie last week. I thought it was good but not the A-mazing movie so many people are raving about. Don't get me wrong its solid but I don't think its fantastic.

I saw it again last night, and still thought the movie was kick ass. Heath Ledger
as the Joker was probably the best acting I've seen in awhile.

I've heard this more than once and being a huge Jack fan I wasn't buying it. So when I did get to see it, I was being extremely critical. Now I will say Heath did a great job! But you just can't compare thier individual performances because the stories were so much different. I can't help but wonder how Jack would've done with
that script.
Of coarse Heath's death has fueled all the hub bub over this movie. Really no different then a musician dieing only to be put on a pedestool. Like Kurt Cobane. His band was not taken seriously when they were producing music. IE: Weird Al spoofing a song and Saturday Night Live constantly goofing on them. Then he dies and all of a sudden he's a great artist.
Otherwise a pretty good movie. And like the first rendition, the joker steals the show.

I will agree with Greg that Heath's death probably helped fuel the hype for the movie,
but do you really think a 70 year old Jack Nicholson would have the same effect as
28 year old Ledger? I just can't see Nicholson portraying the Joker at 70 years old
and still having the same effect.

this was an amazing
so here's an interesting tidbit. apparently heath ledger called jack Nicholson before the filming to ask for tips/inspiration etc. Jack Nicholson advised him not to take the role because jack had had such a hard time getting back out of character and had had suicidal thoughts after the role...

No. I was thinking in terms of his 'time' sort of thing. Although he wasn't that much younger in his stint as joker. Plus the makeup would've hid most of that anyway. And one of my favorite creeps, Anthony Hopkins, was always old and still very good at scaring the shit out of you!

Nicholson as the Joker in the 1989 movie was indeed awesome and he probably would have made a good Joker again,
but still I'm glad that Ledger did it. I guess I just have a hard time seeing a 70 year old man play the lead role of a villian in an
action flick.

Wow was it '89'? I'm old

Doesn't seem near that long ago. So ya I feel ya. Besides, I don't think Jack would've done it again anyway. After Brian's tid bit, I did a search on u-tube and found the interviews with Jack after Heath's death and he says 'I warned him!'.
Crazy how these guys get so into thier roles. I guess that's why they're soo good.
PS .. The 'hide the pencil trick' was awesome!
