An other one bites the dust!

Post by gkitching »

Well, after over 40 yrs in business, Town Sound has shut it's doors. These bad economic times have proved too great to weather and after struggling these past few months I've decided to call it quits. It's a tough business to be in these days and with the way things are I just can't keep my head above water.

So I'm officially a civilian again. Not sure what I will do next. But it will most likely not involve 12 volt. I will just have to see what's out there.

After clearing out my desk, I came across a ton of pics of PG projects we've done over the years that I would like to share when I get a chance. Sort of a parting shot.

I will definately try to remain a forum regular. Just not sure if I'll be around a computor as often anymore so there's probably no chance of me catching fuzzyhoe in post counts

First, I'd say the Federal Reserve. You can thank them for inflation and killing the American dollar. Then go ahead and kick the dumbasses who voted to bail out Wall Street. Then president Bush. (Sorry to thread jack)

Sorry to hear about your shop Greg. Hopefully things turn around in the economy sometime in the near future and you can open shop again.

Thanks Guys! I really mean it.

I did kinda list things recently without it being obvious I was going under. Trying to avoid alerting any vendors from catching on before it was official. I found someone to buy out the remaining stock and it's all gone now with the exception of my personal stash.

But if anyone is in the market for trophies .... I have a few

Image

Actually I will be donating them to our local Big Brothers/Big Sisters org. Someone can make use of them.

As for the whole bail-out thing .. don't get me started!

greg... been at work all day today, and just got on... my appreciation to your situation is greatly fealt - shit and we just spoke on phone last night... But just dont feel alone or whatever - YOU'RE NOT!... which may or may not help... i-myself have teetered with the idea of closing my doors... my buddy has already moved his shop into his house and gotten rid of 2 garages full of gear and found the money now is in HT. I am not intimate with what exactly you did/do/specialize in.. but nonetheless... (of course I cant speak for all areas of the country).. but this area for sure (and have heard really all over) that the 12v Industry has/is/been going down.. and smaller folks like us and "Joe the Plumber" are getting ccrunched... I have even a part time job now, hate to admit it, but almost proud to do so these days... even though I own/run two other business...
L@@K, you are very talanted individual (OBVIOUSLY) and you wont have any trouble finding some other gig, I feel confident about that!

Best wishes and luck... are we going to have to get a computer down to you so you can still be a part of the phoenix-ghold phorum!?!??!?!?
I thin ki can speak on behalf of most if not all - we would certainly like to still have you around, Greg!

BAIL OUT F***THAT***T! Then they go for a spa massage upwards of 4/500,000 in calif???? WTF Nnno way...straight BS!

I hate the fact that a guy who's been in business as long as you have has to shutdown due to finances. The bailout thing was absolutely retarded do you think those investors would do the same thing for anyone else. Not a fucking chance. The worst part of it a week after the 810 billion was approved AIG took their employees to a resort for a week vacation costing over$440,000 if that isn't a slap in the face to the government and citizens I don't know what is.

Damn man, sorry to hear that. I don't know what else to say. Try to keep your head up man, your not alone in this. Last year my dad saw all of this coming and closed his doors on his siding business that he had owned for 15 years. Customers (general contractors) started not paying up and it looked like a good time to cut our losses. The old man had seen times like this before so he knew what was about to hit. He got out with a good chunk of money still in tact and now we're just trying to hold on until the storm is over.

I hope all is well even though times are tough. Like I said, keep your head up man, there are worse things that could have happened. :(

Sorry to hear that dude. were feeling it up here in Canada too. long story short, Im 33 yrs old have had only 2 jobs from the time I was 16, been with the same company for almost 12 yrs, now i'm laidoff due to the economic hardships you guys are goin through.Back too school for me, might be able to get government funding to pay for my schooling because of my employment record. just remember no matter how shitty things seem to get, the sun will always shine you just have to look a little harder.
I wish you good luck with your next chapter. Peace
