In short, both companies may be going under.. Looks like ford may end up keeping the crownvic, as they were supposed to discontinue it in a few years..

CONSIDER THE SOURCE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good hell mack, that's like Rush Limbaugh saying all democrats are liberal douche bags and everyone in america believing him. Honestly, do you think Ford is doing good? All 3 major american car makers are close to the edge.

Last I checked ford was number 2 in market shares world wide, just behind toyota.. Yes all auto makers are hurting here in america, but realize that ford does better overseas than in the us. As for the source, I can give you several sources...

Ford Reports $8.7 Billion Second-Quarter Loss

Ford's Worst Quarter Ever

Yep, Ford's doin just fine.

Seriously man, nobody is doing good. For you to try to single out GM and Chrysler is kinda funny IMO.

Who says im singling them out? Im just saying they are very close to going out of business... this thread is just to inform, not to boast about anything.. Get your facts straight, and actually read what Im posting here!!! This is not a good thing, but rather an informative thing. Everyone has losses, even toyota, but ford is not about to go under like gm and chryler is. Ford does much more sales woldwide. Like i said though, this isnt about ford, this is about gm and chryler merger... This thread was to stir up conversation about both companies going under, because thats what it looks like is going to happen, unless they get bailed out.

Also I never said ford was doing just fine, but like I said they were number 2 in market share world wide under toyota, Im not sure about now, but they were. Try reading my posts. Once again, this is an informative thread, not a gloating thread bragging about another company

Sorry mack, I'm not trying to argue here. I just know your a Ford fan and you posted a link to a Crown Vic forum about GM and Chrysler going under. Take a step back and look at it through other peoples eyes. I'm done, sorry if I ruffled you feathers. :(

Yep, if any of the big 3 go down it's gonna hurt bad. But OTOH maybe that's what this country needs. After all, we do have a free market don't we??

I've been aware of the fact that either of these companies *might* go down for some time now. I'll yabber some more when the news is that one or both of these companies *is* going down.

I didn't read any of the links, but a friend of mine follows all this type of stuff, I'm stereo, he's auto, but GM and Chrysler might be merging. Gotta do what you've gotta do.

If they do, I hope they keep the DURAMAX over the Cummings. As of late, the DURAMAX is an overall better performer. Stock to stock that is.

I saw on truck tv last year that they took a Chevy dually w/a DURAMAX and w/only a few engine mods and guit a bit of tranny line and suspension upgrades that truck pulled a 130,000 lbs semi w/loaded trailer from a dead stop in gravel, while in 4 wheel drive. I was highly impressed. That's when DURAMAX won me over.

I grew up around semis. My dads a truck driver and I build their trailers, go figure  , and have been on the road with my dad since I was 6 weeks old. My point, I know a lot about diesels and semis.

The GM/Chrysler merger is nothing new. They have been in talks for a while, but that stuff happens every time someone gets in trouble in Detroit. It was 'talked about' before chrysler went bankrupt years ago. I think it would be a terrible idea for GM to go with them, as they already have too many companies to handle as it is.

It is basicvally all vested on the fact that Cerberus wanted GMAC, and by owning chrysler they have a good piece to trade GM to get it. I have noticed on the commercials that GM no longer advertises any APR values becasue they wont deal with loans anymore. They have some marketing term for them 'searching hundereds of banks to find you the best deal!' Oh marketing, how you can make anything sound good.

Gm has never been in this bad of shape though.. The worse is yet to come.. Will be worse than the great depression, I guarantee it..

The Government is not going let GM go under, they employ too many people and that is a lot of taxes they would not be able to collect. And they are not going to let Chrysler fail. I mean the Government bailed them out, then Damiler bailed them out, who better to invest billions with then Chrysler?
