friend called 2+ 1/2 hours ago with a problem.... turns out her Gmail got compromised, probably from a hotel / cafe on a recent trip the other side of the equator.
So, as a quick reminder:
- do you have a copy of your mail address book somewhere?
- what about your phone?
- When was the last time you changed your mail password or checked the settings?
that is all.

1. I don't have any addresses stored in any email accounts that I can't afford to loose.
2. No numbers on my phone I can't afford to loose either. My business contacts are all available on printed copies at work.
3. Not recently enough. I don't check my settings all the time.
Gmail has secure access (HTTPS for webmail and IMAP / SMTP over SSL). That's why I don't use public access computers. With my laptop/iPod touch + unsecured wireless, I can still securely access my email over encrypted channels and avoid the folley of keyloggers installed on computers I do not trust.

Good reminder. There are lots of a$$holes out there. One glitch I had with Outlook Express was odd. I sent an email to a friend. I used Gmail via OE. After I sent it, I was looking at the "Sent Email" folder and it had my gmail password in the subject field of the email! Of course I immediately changed it and a bunch of other passwords just in case. But you never know what can happen these days.

Wow. You're password in your subject line? That's pretty strange. You might want to report that so it doesn't happen to anyone else.
