My best friend's grandpa died a few days ago and today was the funeral. It's pretty weird how a death in the family can bring out the best and the worst in people. I saw both sides today and I'm damn happy to say that my friends took the higher road. We ended the night by taking half of the family to the grave site and lighting off a bunch of fireworks. I know it sounds kind of weird, but the deceased would have loved it. Seeing his kids all together, not arguing, and talking about all of the good times in the past. And at the end of it doing some random, off the wall shit like setting off fireworks at the grave site. All in all it was a good day, it's just kind of sad others couldn't behave themselves and join in the fun.

Yep, things have a way of working themselves out usually.

I had a similar experience at my friend's funeral. He and his wife committed suicide together and I couldn't help but feel that their funeral was a disgrace and completely misrepresented his life and who he was.

I didn't really know her so I can't comment on that...

It always hurts losing someone, but that's no excuse to act an ass. Glad to hear you've got good character.

Being under 30, I haven't been to many funerals. Of those I have been to, I know exactly what yer talking about. In my eyes, a funeral is a celebration of life...... Not a place for negativity.

exactly, my condolences, losing my father last April was horrible- but ill say this, HE LUVD STARBUX coffe; i moved to fla, then they all came down, long story short, him and my mom brought my neice and nephew to disney every year prior to that, and he would always sing "under the boardwalk" en route, so on the way to the national cemetery( he was a korean vet), I saw a starbux, and asked everyone if they wanted coffee, thats what he would do, even at ,during a funeral,or hot drip on the 100 degree beach!, so we asked the limo driver to make a u turn to go to the starbux, now my mom and neice were talking about that under the boardwalk song, so we all get insdie, order our drinks, and THAT SONG WAS PLAYING THRU THEIR MUSIC! so, in my mind all is good, thanx for letting me share that( whenever i go to the site, i always take a bottle frap and pour it out for him, celebrate life now and in spirit!!!- best wishes to all-

Agreed, I've told my wife I don't want a stuffy, sappy funeral, just one hell of a going away party! Don't dwell on the negative stuff, celebrate the positive things and everyone have a good time.

It's kind of weird how you remember and miss the little things about someone when they pass isn't it? It's also nice to give the deceased one last little gift that you know they would like, as silly as it may seem.
