Today for work...

Post by mr tibbs »

I had to go test drive a tractor. The old man is convinced that he needs another tractor to plow the snow in his driveway. How would it be to be able to afford whatever, whenever?? He is out of town so I had to go check it out. Here is the tractor:

Clearly you need to get the backhoe version

Think of the snow forts you could build with that

Seriously though what tractor does he currently have, and why has he not bought a snowplow addon for it?

Damn I even think people with snowplows are lazy... but a TRACTOR? His driveway had better be able to land a 737 at the very least

a) It's a diesel engine with no cab, unfortunately speakers are absolutely useless in this thing.

b) I also dig the cup holder, until we start playing with dirt. Then I will have a dirt flavored drink.

c) As far as I can tell this will plow just about any snow that my old man can throw at it. Seriously this thing is a beast. We were comparing it to a John Deere (one that the John Deere dealer compared this to) and the Challenger blows the John Deere out of the water. For example, the three point hitch in the back, the JD can lift 681 lbs, the Challenger can lift 2,500!!

Funny you should say that. Since Challenger is no longer making this small of tractor after last year they is more than likely going to be a fire sale on all accessories. The salesman has already clued us in on this so we are probably going to pick up some more accessories just for shits and giggles. I want the backhoe, I think it would be a blast!

Right now my parents own a 1963 Ford tractor. My mother has laid claim to this (even though she has NEVER ran the damn thing), so she won't let my old man sell it. After much arguing about selling the Ford, my mom told him to just go buy his own dam tractor. I guess that is what we are doing. The Ford is honestly just not the same thing, it's old, it's only 2 wheel drive, and it can not be equipped with a front end loader. But it can run the gigantic lawn mower that we have just fine!

If you're just needing a snow plow why not get a 4 wheel drive 4 wheeler with a plow on the front?

If you are dead set on a tractor, my dad bought one of these a few years ago and it's pretty sweet

I have a 4wd 4 wheeler just sitting at the house that I keep telling him to use, but he doesn't want to. Something tells me he just wants a new toy, and to rub my mom's face in it.

And we have looked at the Kubota's. Damn nice tractors, but for a lot more coin. He would be in the $18K- $20K range for a similar Kubota compared to the Challenger.

My dad damn tear tipped the Ford last summer. He had it at about 3/4 throttle in 8th gear or so and hit the brakes. I guess only one side grabbed and threw him to the right pretty damn good, that would have been bad.

Man are all you guys getting bailouts or what? WHERE'S MY DAMN TRACTOR

Here I am shoveling my sidewalk with my arms like a sucker. Getting exercise and everything. Bah!

Fuck, if I had a tractor I might even plow the fucking road, like my city is unable to do. Right now there's a 4" thick sheet of incredibly hard bumpy ice in front of my house.

Here's a little taste of our winter driving:
