Hmm.. If the gear was/is hot then he's actually going pretty far to try and cover it I'd say.

Most theives would have gotten hostile or defensive when you asked to see reciepts I would have thought??

jump on it.. Thats a nice 3 way. I have heard good things about those amps too. I myself havent used any alpine since my old v12. I liked that amp tho.

ask for serial #'s and pics of them. He might have a buddy that works there or heck he might even work there. With those numbers you can tell what you need and if he doesn't want to give them you also know what you need........

he sounds too ignorant of the equipment for the cost of it initially.. I suppose there are some very stupid people out there, but it does seem odd. The fact that he keeps referring you to the shop makes me think of the old shop scam where they sell you stuff, and then have their buddies go rip you off.

But honestly, if it was shady, he probably wouldve dropped off the earth when you called him on it, rather than try to cover his tracks.
