Building setup Volvo 96

Post by str3atwarrior »

Hi all!

This one is my girlfriend's car. We just buyed a double din DVD player with GPS features. I installed iGO 8 on it, works great! I will install it in the car as soon as the wiring harness arrive! Here are some pics of the DVD player hooked in the house for testing :

The hardest part was to get iGO working, but once i passed that part, everything was nice! The unit have 2 SD slots, one for the GPS and one where you can put your media files. I have yet to test the second one. USB sticks are working great, same for DVD and CD. I plan on adding 2 3.5in monitor on the backseats to keep the kids calm during long road trip. I'm gonna install a 10in XS104DVC with my old kenwood amp in the back. I have no plan to change the stock speakers, maybe over time if the girlfriend ask me to.

This unit cost me just under 300$CAD with shipping. Girlfriend's birthday is Monday, and she's real happy with this since her old deck started having trouble reading discs, and she gets lost pretty easy so the GPS is just great for her. All the other stuffs i'll be installing will be my old one, so won't cost me a thing, except for the screens, they are 20$ on fleebay so even if they don't last i don't really care.

Had fun with the GPS part, pretty cool feature! Signal is solid, and iGO is a pretty darn good software once correctly tweaked. TTS is working great, and with an updated POI database, it's just great! You can listen to music with the GPS on, it just mute when direction are spoken, then come back! Bluetooth is sweet too, working well, no echo, and music resume after phone call ends.

Still waiting for the screens to come in, and still waiting for my stock to come in so i can install the kenwood amp with a 10 xs104 in the car! Of course it'll be in a fiberglass enclosure, must save as much space in the trunk as possible with the kids...
