mazda mp5 install
yeah I know. I just got cld tiles though. Should be fine for my car. It's already quiet. Since it's a 2009 caliber srt4. I'm going big in it. No one is going to have this kind of system in their caliber. 4K rms I'm going to be running.

i know you guys have been loosing sleep waiting for the progress of the box heres what i got so far. i built a wood frame that counters to the floor line. i can also mount a normal baffle to it when i'm done. messing with rings and finishing the front fiberglass isnt something i love doing.
you will notice the little wood block in the back. that is so i can bolt the box in. it lines up and the bolts threads into a factory nut where the factory jack used to mount. (now it lives on top of the spare tire becasue there is extra clearance from my false floor.

yeah, sanding glass is the bane of my existence. unfortunately there has still been a ton of sanding. forgot to mention (but you probibly figured it out from the pics) i filled the air bubbles and dents in the back smooth with bondo, then resined over it all. the i removed a ton more of the tape since the pics too. pic 608 is more recent then the 2 below it. you can also see i layed more cloth to make sure the fiberglass bonded to the frame in the back too

Re: mazda mp5 install
a few more updates. its taking shape now. my phone died and i lost a few of the pics. but i'm at least making progess on the box and cooling rack, you can see the foam i used to span the gaps between the box and the contours of the interior panels. i then went over those with body filler and will be painting them.

oh, and for added fun, i found some older pics of the nastiness i found when taking the interior apart from the previous owner! needless to say, the car smelled way better after i cleaned everything...and took out the prehistoric (mozzarella) sting cheese

Re: mazda mp5 install
I FINALLY FINISHED IT! just a shade under 2 years
pretty stocked about how it came out. the box looks very nice in there
I added some cooling fans for the XS2500 since it was getting a bit hot under the new false floor. once the floor is mounted, it creates a duct for the fans right across the heat sink
