my wife's 4runner has the stock jbl stereo so we just added an jl 8w7 powered from a zx400-ti. the audio control eqs is a bit overkill but still nicely integrates the amp with the factory head unit offering a built in line driver and eq for the low end. she listens to a lot of r&b so the bass has to crank on demand!
i know i need to recover everything in matching gray....in due time i will.
and i plan to add a 500.4 eventually and upgrade the stock speakers. I also have a clear plastic cover for the eqs i might slap on there.
*disclaimer- the eqs is on long-term loan from a good friend.

Very nice and simple. Are you going to upgrade the speakers when you add an amp? I have thought about adding a ZX450 to my wifes stock speakers to add a little bit better sound and a small sub. But most people say that it is not worth it to add an amp to stock speakers. I think its better than what is coming out of the stock head unit.
Thanks

Nah I gave it to my buddy who bought your Nak headunit and he loves it. If he didn't want it I would have put it in a sealed box tookg1961 wrote:It was the box set up it was the jl audio high output not SQ Tom if you would like you can sell it back to me and I will make a new box
The 8W7 I heard was ported as well though, but not the HO box.

the plan is to send one of my 500.4 to get valeks to replace the caps and repair the front two channels, then use it to power the stock speakers. She has factory comps and they should be fine on the pg. It is on the list to replace them eventually.vwguy3 wrote:Very nice and simple. Are you going to upgrade the speakers when you add an amp? Absolutely. I am more than pleased with it. I've had many jl subs over the years and this on is it! I like my 12w6v2 also, but am aching for a pair of nice tens.smgreen20 wrote:So, did the 8" exceed your expectations?
I was blown away by the one I heard. It's the ONLY thing JL I'd buy.
