Yes I know the color is a little off but the damn store I went to , to get the proper color closed 5 minutes before I arrived . I'll repaint it when I can drive all the way across town again .

where you planning on the pods being attached to the a-piller originally? Where did you get the pods from?

Thank you AVICJR , I really appreciate it
Yes I originally planned tp put the speakers up in front of me as far out as I could to help with imaging . Plus my tweeters wouldn't fit in the factory location due to thier size . I wanted to keep the mid and the tweeter close together so I wouldn't have separation so the best option was the dash/A pillar . The pods came with the speakers , I just altered them to fit like I wanted . I toyed around with other options like fabbing up a new tweeter mount on the door and I also made molds of the factory mid speaker housing/screen for a just in case and another option . The trunk will be the next project once the weather starts to get warmer and I can work outside . My garage is filled up with my other "moneypit" , it has no wheels right now so I cant move it .

Excellent work! Very convenient that they supply the mounting rings for you!
Are your mids bolted to the door frame at all, or are they only attached to the speaker grille itself?

I mounted rings to the door itself and built it out to my pods and then I countersunk screws in from the front . So they are actually mounted to the door itself , I forgot to snap pics of that. Was to much in a zone when it came down to finishing it . The door is dynamatted ,outside skin and the inner door as well . I also cut 1/4 mdf to fill all the big holes and the dynamatted over that also to create my infinate baffle .

Damn! That's gotta sound great! I have my door panel
deadened quite well, but with the mids mounted behind the stock grille I definitely notice a lot of absorption of my drivers side speaker. I bet your method sounds a lot cleaner off axis.

I have a little resonance from the plastic backing to the pods so I'm going to out a layer of dynamat on the back and fill them with some polyfill as well as the midbass cavity in the door . But , it does sound great so far .
