2006 mustang ib install
well i have all the new gear for my new mustang minus the new head unit. here is a list of the layout. front image dynamics xs57 powered off one half my ms1kta and jl zr800 midbass powered of the other half. 2 idmax 12v3d2 powered off an rsd1200.1. head unit will be the new pioneer deh 80prs. now i just need to start putting it all in.

did some deadening and test fit the baffle.

Re: 2006 mustang ib install
how are you planning on sealing off the trunk from the cabin?
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
Re: 2006 mustang ib install
im pretty much changing everything. now im thinking about picking up a set of dynaudio 362 comps and using a single idmax ported instead of 2 ib.
Re: 2006 mustang ib install
a single in a box would probably sound cleaner then 2 ib.

Re: 2006 mustang ib install
i think it will sound worse. the main reasons i switched is the only place i could put the ms1k was on the floor of the trunk. i found out the back of the seats are not wood like my old stang but plastic. i did not want to take a chance of it breaking loose and falling onto the idmaxes.ttocs wrote:a single in a box would probably sound cleaner then 2 ib.
Re: 2006 mustang ib install
i had to screw and glue 2 pieces of 3/4 inch together on mine. the 1 piece was not strong enough and would flex a lot. you need to totally seal off the baffle and make sure it don't flex or it will cause cancellation. i started with 2 12 inch subs and ended up with 4 12's in my 86 monte carlo.

IB is great when its done right but that is not exactly an easy thing to do.

the baffle was 1" 19 ply real baltic birch, i was not worried about the baffle flexing. i have done ib a couple of times but its been a long time ago.wooferdog wrote:i had to screw and glue 2 pieces of 3/4 inch together on mine. the 1 piece was not strong enough and would flex a lot. you need to totally seal off the baffle and make sure it don't flex or it will cause cancellation. i started with 2 12 inch subs and ended up with 4 12's in my 86 monte carlo.
