Starting to redo trunk install on my del sol. Major changes in the trunk. Figured I'd do a bit of a build log and maybe some regulars here might have some insight when I run into trouble.

Just doing a rough fitment for the amp rack, to see how it all fits. Shipping corner posts work well. :)

Two aluminum 900.7's and an 800.1 plus a tikf34, txgnd will be behind and slightly raised from the power block.

The targa too still fits in the roof rack with plenty of clearance.

if you do not leave at least 1" or more above the fans they will not cool very well. Learned that the hard way.

Current spacing leaves 1.5" air gap. After shelving and thickness of shelving, and a bit of vibration padding, likely about 1.25-1.375" air gap. I'm hoping to force feed air from under the amp rack, up behind the amps, and then exhaust out each side of the rack. Shelves will have a front lip that goes down almost to the amp below to block front exit/entry of air.
The top will be enclosed to prevent rain or water dripping onto top amp, the signal board will be hinged and will fit over the front to separate "storage" and audio.

How many CFM do I need to force-feed through these amps to keep them cool?

If I can figure shelving, putting XO and a cube between amps would be ok as long as it didn't extend back as far as vent slots and fans right?

I think you will have overheating problems. Very similar install with audison production had that problem also...

Did you solve overheating problems with audisons in similar install?

Any ideas how much airflow I may need?
I don't suppose one of the diagnostic ports will give an indicator on temperatures other than good/screwed?

I think it could be a problem as well as the exhaust from one will more then likely just get sucked up by the one below it. They will or should go into thermal for protection but its not something I like to do.

On those long amps the air is pushed dead center and on the ends...so having something within an inch or two from the center will only cause that warm/hot air to keep circulating within the same amplifier, like others mentioned you might or will have thermal problems.

the only way I see it working really is to have some pretty good sized fans blowing across them.

Would it be better if I could force feed say, 20-50cfm in from the left and pull 20-50cfm out from the right?
After looking at it some more, I'm not sure how much air I can force into the air gap behind all the amps from below, there just won't be much of a gap between bottom amp and trunk floor due to spare tire well positioning without resorting to high static pressure and loud fans. Both sides I'll have room for air though. I should be able to fit more than enough fans there to do the job.

Any idea how much airflow I might need for each amp? How much static pressure (in.h20)?

I mean, it's not like I cant run some fans off of my dd10....

my other concern was that the trunk area is not all that big to begin with, now throw a few big ass amps and there is even less air to circulate.

You can put a cooling module, with touch screen head next to cd player. It allows to control 6 fans independently, adjust fans speed and see temperature between amps with temperature sensor. That thing i will use again in my install if needed. As for audison amps, i had to put them in other order, took more place, but i solved problems with temperature protection. On my other install with Mosconi one amps, in the false floor, i just set 2 extra fans, one was giving air, other was taking it out. In the hot summer day, when extra fans were off, mosconi amp fans always were on when playing music louder. But when i turned on extra 2 fans, after 15 sec. amps fans stopped working ;)

Another thing I was thinking about was possibly putting fans on the two trunk vents, one intake, one exhaust, just to move some fresh air through the trunk and prevent a small amp hotbox from just heating up the whole trunk and turning it into a bigger hotbox.

Sometimes, power density is a bitch. LOL
Such is the price for gaining enough usable room to mount the third amp and have enough room for a weekend getaway.

In the past when trying to cool areas I've found that pushing air in does almost nothing. Put all efforts to pull hot air out with passive vents in. What you pull out will always come in. If you can passively vent into the trunk and pull air directly past the amps out of the trunk you will cool them. How much cfm is necessary? I'm not sure, but there is no such thing as too much air flow in this type of situation. That I'm sure of. Good luck with your build.

Figured once the amp rack, even the temporary prototype is in, running speaker wires is going to be about five times as knuckle busting, might as well run them first!

Getting wire into the doors cleanly was always an issue, so I pulled the fenders, found my hole placements, and drilled a couple pilot holes. I'll open them up, add grommets, and run the wire soon.
