12W1's. Generic box but it is well built, 3/4 MDF, separate chambers. They were a bit dusty when I got them. Shop vac and water diluted ArmourAll works wonders.........

Never heard W1's. If they're anything like the W0's that's a killer deal.

Sorry - they are 12W0-8 (8 indicating 8 ohm). 6.53 ohm DC resistance. My goof. I'll connect them to a 2125 later today. Standby.....

Personally I thought the old JL's were absolute shit.
Baskets were cheap steel crap. Woofer surrounds rotted within a year or two and the coils were so finicky and easy to pop.
The cone was the best part, lovely light and stiff yet sounded immensely warm. Sure they sounded good, but they were overpriced junk.
I had a pair of 15 W5's from around the same era, and they both blew. I contacted JL (this was around 13 months into owning them) and they told me they do not provide any kind of recone/repair service. Little more digging and I found that the mirimar FL HQ was nothing but a front for the woofers that were being mass assembled in Taiwan. This is why they didnt carry any spares because at the price they were paying to have them made they were disposable..
Sadly that price wasnt carried to retail, they were HORRENDOUSLY over priced garbage with a designer label attatched.
The PG ZP woofers were a tad heavier and more clumsy, but boy they took a serious beating.. Unlike the JL's.
Just my two cents and some change... Sure we had this discussion on SB before.

I too have some fond memories from my early audio days some very similar JL subs. Good score!
