Phoenix Gold Phorum

i kept it pretty simple and relatively inexpensive. it's nothing special or crazy or show quality, just a simple, but powerful, good sounding 2-way active front stage with a sub.


-for the HU i have a Pioneer 880PRS.

-running the PG RSD65CS's upfront. mids in the stock door locations and the tweeters flush mounted in the factory kick panels.

-for a sub i am using a single Dayton Reference H.O. ten. it is in a strange looking but highly effective ported enclosure. it is in .7 cubic feet NET, tuned to 30hz using a 3" round port with a flare on each end. half of the 24" long port is tucked away inside the enclosure but the whole 24" could not fit inside so the other half is external. may look a bit odd but it sounds way better than it looks. function over form is the way i see it, but it doesn't look THAT bad IMO.

-for power i am running DD (Digital Designs) amplifiers. i have an S4 for the front comps, and a C2a bridged for the sub. the S4 for those who don't know about it, does 200x2 AND 100x2. a 4 channel with staggered outputs. so 200 per RSD mid, and 100 per RSD tweeter. the C2a can do 620 watts at 4 ohms bridged to the sub.

-for power upgrades i did the simple, yet effective big 3. thats all, stock battery, stock alt.

-for rca's i am using the knukoncepts krystal kable. power wire is whatever 4 gauge power wire has been in my last 3 cars. speaker wire is plain old radio shack 16 and 18 gauge.

-also the doors are deadened and sealed. used Elemental Designs Edead V1SE2. i might continue to deaden more of the car but i find the doors to be most important.

Are the power wires under the hood fused? I can't see them if they are.

Besides that nice install, I like the clean simple look of it!

well, the 4 gauge wire from the battery + to the amps is fused. but no fuse on the 0 gauge wire from the battery + to alt.

don't see a need for it. honestly i don't see a point to it. the wire won't move, and has no easy way of shorting on anything.

Fuse it man, better to be safe than sorry! That wire is hot at both ends no matter what happens, if it's not fused and something goes wrong by chance :poof!: there goes you car.

well then, if the wire is hot on both ends, i really should fuse both ends as close as humanly possible to the ends then correct? lol.

i'm really anal about stuff and this doesn't bother me one bit. nothing is going to happen to it. the wire doesn't move and won't come in contact with anything. i do appreciate the concern but i feel safe as it is.

Oddly enough I have seen this before. As long as you feel comfortable with it all is good man! After all, it's your ride. I actually have not run this exact wire in my girlfriends FJ because I have yet to pick up a fuse holder.

yea the box has a function over form thing going on. lol it sounds go good to mess with so i'm leaving it alone.

the big 3 made a good difference in my car. almost completely eliminated my dimming and raised my overall voltage by a good half a volt. for $36 and an hour of time, it was worth it.

Those Tc's are nice looking cars. Extremely rare in Canada... you guys must have them everywhere down there!

How do you like that Dayton? I've always wanted to try one out.

yea the tc's are real nice cars especially for the 19 grand out the door price tag. they are getting popular down here in the states but still not like the civics and integras, THANK GOD. i really hope the tc doesn't turn into the next civic.

i absolutely love the Dayton HO!! awesome sub for my needs. it'll keep up with any kind of music you throw at it. sounds insane for the fast double bass that a lot of rock and metal has. awesome SQ and awesome output considering what it it.

Double bass? Now you've got my attention.

Sweet. I will definitely get my hands on one of them... some day.

Welcome fellow tC owner! I've had mine since '05' and they are becoming more and more prevelent. Like you, I fear they are gonna be the next 'me too' car. But what do you expect? Can't keep a good thing down

PS: That front lip looks much better on your 'flint mica' color. I know someone local that has the same kit on the 'silver streek' color and it just looks outta place with the off-setting colors of the carbon fiber and silver.

i LOVE them. they sound excellent! i think i really have them dialed in now. they can take A LOT of power and stay clear doing it.
