starting my first street bass car in 10 years

Post by brenzbmr@sb »

i have decided to bring back my old ass sentra, started 2 weeks ago and been going on my lunch break everyday to my freinds shop and working on it for an hour every day.
these post are from another forum im just cutting and pasting.

the system will consist of two re mt 18s and 16k in power to run both.

its gonna be an experiment on my part because im gonna do a non wall in this car with 19 cubic ft of box required to get the 45hz street beating bass i want...

im not going for spl numbers but sheer volume outside the car.
wish me luck
oh and thats why im selling my gear i took out a loan for this a while back and now i need to pay it off.

lol

well i finally started to CLEAN my car. it sat for five years so it was pretty nastee..

i removed the entire interior and sprayed degreaser in the car and shot it out with a water hose after scrubbing the entire floor and trunk.
people passing by were like WTF..
crazy bald fker shooting the inside of his car with a water hose..

here is some pics

updates on car.

floor cleaned sanded, undercoated and layed with some kevin special secret dampning material....

(kevin is the parnter of our shop.)
its funny because he is working on a 88 nissan sentra also for shop use..

ill post pics of that one shortly.

w8 till i start building the load boards...first is load board then box...

"oh a kerfing we will go, a kerfing we will go, hi ho a merry go a kerfing we will go...."

the box will be a two part box that will be all trunk and back seat area.
we are not walling this car due to i want the load of the cabin to reinforce the bass..
so I have an idea and i been messing with frequency lenths and quarter waves to get my waves back into phase at the front of car..

if this works ill be a happy bald fker.

we are gonna start the load board( the board that will save my back window) and keep the pressure in the car.

you could just go buy a small fridge and cut some holes in it? The door would seal it and still give easy access to wiring at the same time. Bonus points would be awarded if you retained functionality of the ice maker and front door water filler.

part of my box is in the trunk, 9cubes in trunk and the rest is in cab,

its hard to picture but thursday im taking a 4 by 8 sheet and cutting it down to 41 inches by 96inches then kerfing the sheet for back of roof and thenlaying this in from the rear deck all the way up and over the roof to the windsheild...
this will eliminate any serious flex on back glass and roof since the woofers will fire into the corner where the rear deck and window meet.

im trying to get a quarter wave of 40 hz to be right at the mic infront of car..
i have 84 inches which if u take the speed of sound in inches devide by 84 and then by 4 will give me about 40hz..
mybox will be 43 iches from woofers orgin to back of box and then 43 again coming out of port...making it back in phase out of port and in phase with woofers...then all of that coming to the front of car should really give me some serious bass around 40 hz

im looking at maybe running the RE XXX 18 (2) since they will play 40hz better then the MT..
still talking to RE about which woofer to use..
pics will come around friday..

update, skipped door panels and loadboard.

figuring out the box was a all day chore..

17 cubic ft total. my port is 210 square inches and each MT will see 7 cubic ft each,

this box is fuckin huge, large, garganitc

i didnt realize each 18 weighs about 60 pounds...

ill start cutting parts of the enclosure and laminating the pieces to inch and a half...

ill take pics as i go so be patient since i only work this thing once a week
