new install
new install
Im planing on competing in the near future. This system is probably going to be simple as hell.
The system will be fully active using the Clarion internal processing.
Tentative equipment list:
Clarion DRZ9255 w/ changer and optical cable
2 MS275
MS2125
PG TLD66
Scan Speak Illuminator 1" tweeters (HP@2k)
Morel 8" mids (BP@63-2k)
DIYMA 12r subwoofer. (LP@63)
Right now, im building a sealed FG enclosure in the corner of the trunk and the amps are probably going to be installed on the back wall. I'll try to load some pics this weekend :p
Not totally sure if the amp guts are going to be shown tho...
The most PTA part of the install is that all wiring and fusing must abide by IASCA rules. Right now all of my wires aren't going anywhere, but rules are rules.
What do you guys think?

I keep hearing hit or miss about the DIY sub. It's nice to hear that it's working out well for you. I wanna know how those Morel's sound as well. Looking good Vin! Keep us in the loop man, looks like a killer set up!

Good job. That looks great. I wished I would have recessed my sub now.

Excellent install! Love the FG job on the sub. It's too bad that they never made links for the MS to make it look like one big amp. Perhaps another heatsink? Doesn't look like you have much room though.

I'm gonna become a civil engineer. I'm gonna design septic tanks for playgrounds. Little kids can take shits! You idiot, what the hell do you do?

Thanks for the compliments guys.
Everything is going really slow at the moment. I have to build my car as well as do installs for buddies that are going to compete in IASCA Oh well, I guess a little extra cash can't hurt.
Dwnrodeo: Yeah, that would be neat if PG made links for the MS back then. They made it for other amps.
I's still in the planing process of how im going to build the beauty panel
Tom: The scans sound awesome. I think I can cross them over lower if I choose to, since they have such a low FS. They are probably the fullest tweeters that I've ever heard.
Mando:
Woofers - MS275
Tweeters - MS275
Subs - MS2125
I'm thinking of using the 2125 for the midbass and the 275 for the sub tho . I've had a few other competitors make that recommendation. Damn woofers need some power.

A little update...
I decided to downgrade my HU a bit, I removed the DRZ9255 and installed an Eclipse CD7200MK2. Im planing to use the DRZ in my new car (daily driven - IASCA vehicle)
The car is pretty much finished. I built the amp beauty plate and all I have to do is the rear deck bottom cover (which i'll will finish latter).
I post pics this evening.
Im attending my first IASCA event this weekend since the 2002 season, when I was in the industry. Things has changed sooo much since then.
Anyhow, I sill have some tuning to do.
Imaging is pretty much dead center
Tonality is almost there. I RTA'ed the system several times already and the curve is fairly free from any erratic dips and humps.
Stage width and depth is pretty good, not great
This show will be at Speakerworks (founders of USD audio speakers), and it will be nice to catch up on some old faces in the industry.
Wish me luck boys

The Lexus will not be driven much at all. Im buying the Honda Fit for the daily driver and iasca vehicle. The install hasnt happened yet (didnt buy the car yet).stipud wrote:Wait, so if this car is just your beater install... where are the install pics from your IASCA car???
I'll compete with the lexus until I get the Fit up and ready. So basically, the lexus will be retired from any further comps when the Fit is done.
For the Fit, it's probably going to be even more simple then this install. I need to save as much room as possible to fulfill the daily driver requirement.
Right now Im thinking 3 way + sub with SEAS drivers and DLS amps Sounds expensive, but its nice having some close friends that double as distributors for these brands . I was serisually thinking of buying the new Zed 6 ch, but that's out the door now
