dvd rom/burner
going to future shop, limited funds. I want a good dvd rom with burning capabilities. whats your suggestions? price is $100 tops. thats what i got to work with.

i went with the liteon, but honestly, i don't think there is BAD choice right now. any name brand is pretty decent. read some reviews on newegg.
the software side is FAR more important IMO. finding the right formatting program was the complicated part for me

Screw future shop then. That's the kind of thing you would buy from Memoryexpress in Calgary or NCIX or similar in Vancouver.

I have an LG that I bought from a discount computer place locally. I don't use it a whole lot, but enough. I used to make plenty of CDs and DVDs with my music on them, but ever since I got my Ipod, I don't need to anymore. 
Anyway, I paid $40 or $50 for it a few years ago, I've had it installed in my tower, in an external case, and now back in my "new" tower.
