If were to get a 7.1 receiver could I do this? I dont see why not but my understand of home audio is nto the greatest yet.

Do your standard 2 way towers powered by the fronts, center, and rear; but with the surrond channels power 8" mid bass drivers w/ an added passive LP xover.

You could but the added channels would only play when there was something on those channels or if you told it to up sample the data and fake things out into going on that channel. Your best bet is to get an outboard amp and do things that way. (that is if you can get a line level out of the channels from your receiver).

Yea, sorry, but that won't work. Discreet channels are confusing at first huh?

Or you can just buy a 7.1 decoder and 7 monoblocks! Then you'd be a stud! Thats how I plan on doing it when I go to 7.1.

Look into "Turtle beach" if you are going with a computer based setup

Look into Parasound or Integra for home component style.
