Compy speed issue

Okay I have a question concerning my transfer speeds.
- If I transfer files to/from a USB drive the transfer is slow.
If I transfer files to/from a NAS drive the transfer is slow.
If I transfer files to/from the internet the transfer is slow.
This has just recently happened any ideas of settings or files to check? I have run out of ideas. No spyware, viruses, or any other bad stuff I can find, I have cleaned up the registry, defragged the drive.........I am at a loss I think I may need to do the annual wipe, but really don't think it should be needed.

what type of files are transfering? How large is the file? Are you transferring from native hard drive or external optical (cd burner) to another burner?
Generally speaking USB 1.0 is slower than USB 2.0.
NAS (Network Attached Storage-file sharing) with 10/100 ethernet connection will be slow generally speaking. Gigabit ethernet will be faster. This product should have one or more general connections as well ie. USB, firewire or firewire 800.
Internet- bandwidth...? If wifi, signal...? file way too large...? Your native drive may be close to 80-90% full.
My 2 cents. Googluck.
