I really have my eyes on some harman kardon recievers, but I have noticed the power specs listed on these amps seem to be a bit on the weak side. I am trying to keep the budget around 200.

For instance this harman amp is rated at 30 per channel. I know ratings dont always mean everything, but Does anyone know the word on these amps.?

Most recievers these days are 100 per channel. like this yahmaha pictured for around the same price..

Any thoughts on harman amps? I wanted to go with something different, as I dont see many harman amps out, and I think they are amoung the best looking recievers aswell, which also played a factor in my interest.

I owned an HK up until the house burned down. I loved it. The only draw back I found was the user interface. It was at times hard to navigate to set things up. I had to re start a few times until I realized there was an on screen guide. The guide how ever did not display on the HD output ( I think this was corrected on the next model) I had the AVR240. It was 50w per ch and did just fine as far as output. clean and clear with accurate reproduction of the source media. The one cool thing the HKs have is the iPod bridge. That if your an iPod user.

Just seems I could get more power though with other amps, unless these are very underrated. I am going to be more than likely running the elt towers up front.. hdmi is a must too.

For the money that yahmaha has a lot. The Hk has more options ...but would you use them?????? For the money and the power it looks like the Yamaha has it. Just keep in mind

The Yamaha is a THD of .9

and

The HK has a THD of .07 as well as Dual independent power supplies, for front and surround channels
